You saw the deer walk in front of the other one. I know you didn't pull the trigger thinking you would just graze the one behind it. You should have waited for a clear shot, they obviously didn't know you were there and were'nt spooked. I'm a hunter myself and I'm not putting down the act of killing deer for meat, but consider your background before you shoot.

@shootinshotguns The deer was shot at over 100 yards. Even though it seems very apparent that there is another doe immediately behind the doe when watching the video it wasn't with the naked eye. After replaying the footage and realizing we grazed the second doe we spent the rest of the afternoon looking for the second doe without ever finding a drop of blood. I don't think that these events in any way give hunters a bad name.

That is about the most stupid shot I have ever seen. You are shooting a doe covering another doe - and he change of hitting the doe behind is actually fairly big. Did you at all check the area to see if the other doe was hit???

I know how bad it can doe a I one shot a doe where the bullet changed the direction about 45 degree after hitting the ribs and it the broke the back on a fawn about 40 meters away from her - I had fairly big eyes when she ran and another one tilted

Last weekend, I went in my treestand, an hour later, I had a doe in the truck. I was back at the house too early to start drinking....

Also, I agree. You could've hit the second deer on accident, and I doubt you checked around to make sure. I was staring at 5 doe and I waited about a minute until mine walked too far from the group. Heart shot through the lower right shoulder, he went five feet and dropped.

@16g4g63 From the white hair you see in the video it is clear that the bullet hit the second deer. We spent the rest of the day looking for her but there wasn't any blood anywhere. Our conclusion was that the bullet just barely grazed the butt of the second deer and didn't draw blood.

Notice at moment 1:51 you shot the deer the deer in the back jumps and kicks just as you have shot it to most likely a gut or high flank shot. be a safer hunter wait until the shot path is clear

Your shot selection was irresponsible at best. Injuring the doe behind your target doe was not necessary. I am a hunter, this is not a comment from a tree hugger.. @TheDoug76 really? didn't you see the white hair floating after the shot passed thru the front deer and hit the back one "after viewing this a number of times"? Whitetails have white hair on their backsides so that hair came off the deers ass in the back, it clearly hit it.

AFTER VIEWING THIS A NUMBER OF TIMES... no, just like scooty said, that white hair after he shot wasnt from the deer in the front because he hit the rib cage which has brown hair, the ass on the doe behind it had white hair, which is where he hit and made the hait fly up. bad hunting.

I was using a Federal Premium Power Shok Ammunition 180gr Soft Point. I think I just grazed the deer behind... I looked all over and tracked the deer in the direction it ran for a couple hundred years and couldn't find anymore sign of blood or hair. Amazing hunt and a lot of fun!!!

It looked like you hit the deer behind the one you shot you can see the ass of the other one jerk as the bullet goes though the first deer. You need to make sure your target is clear on the other side before you take a shot.
