I own a SRT4 neon, i love it. like said before, the interior isnt that great....however i have $1500 in mods and ran a 13.47 at the track. so just a "neon" or not, its fucking fast.

if i had to pick a RWD V8 it would either be a Stang, or a G8 gt

Ummm, no, there is NO direct drive 1 to 1 gear in the G8GT with the automatic. 4th gear is 1.15 and 5th is 0.85. Please do your homework before giving advice on a car you don't know about. (FYI-The GXP manual 6 speed does have a true 1 to 1 drive but its in 4th gear, not 3rd).

Your srt4 was clearly not stock if you lost 100whp going to a g8 from an srt4. Stock for stock, you'd be going from about 220whp to about 300-305whp on the G8. A modded Neon is a bit unfair to compare. A chevy small-block would crush those numbers with very little $ in mods. 40 bolt-on rwhp for about $2K.

Hey, to each his own. SRT neons arent my cup of tea. But some people love them, they are fast, and pretty affordable. Just don't like the internet smack talkers comparing a heavily modded car to factory one and not getting #'s right. Especially a modded economy car vs a stock large sports sedan. There's a car out there for everyone. Mine just happens to be a G8GT.

Yo man believe me I know cars. I have been going to the street races since I was 16 with my first car, which was a CompG. I have seen SRT Neons beat up on Trans Am's 350Z's etc. I am just saying that the ride from a SRT-4 to a G8 GT has got to be incredible. The interiors on SRT-4's are terrible. Thats where the 20K price tag is hurts the car the most. Just sayin.

I hear you and couldn't agree more. Just didnt want to start a flame war with the ricer crowd. Like i said, its not that people like cars like a neon that bugs me, its when people make these ridiculous comparisons. I paid $28K OTD for a $35k car and it is a big classy, sporty 4 door rocketship. Believe me, I dont care if a $20K neon with $8K in mods can pull away from my stock G8, I wouldnt want to be seen driving one...ever! SRT4 or not, it's still a NEON! But thats my opinon...LOL

lol very cool exhaust; still, there is a little irony in being elated @ 317 whp when the little SRT probably has more. =) I know I fell hard when I traded my GT30 SRT-4 for the G8 GT. Lost 100 whp and gained 1000 lbs. Still, no equivalent for the sound of a 90* pushrod V8!

On the bottom grill, the V6 and GT have something going down the middle, on the GXP it does not have it and the area where the foglamps are looks different. I think the GXP looks much better just with those two changes.

looks are subjective, I think the camaro ss has a better look. You also get the stick shift with the SS where g8 gt only has automatic. The G8 is a more practical car though.. more trunk room and more interior space. Cheaper than the SS too.

GT's lose about 18% of their power through the drivetrain, so 317rwhp equates to about 374 hp at the flywheel. Not bad if the exhaust was the only mod.
