The first 10 minutes shows exactly why democracy always fails. people believe contradictory things and have no idea why. if they cannot understand simple things about their personal lives, how can they possibly be trusted to understand complex political questions?
Taylor and RSA are pushing this idea of a more complete and scientific understanding of human nature driving decisions in economics, social institutions, and politics as a new era of 'enlightenment', but I don't see the intelegencia of the planet as being capable of comprehending the idea at anything other than a trendy amazement-driven fad, and I don't see it shaping social forces yet. But I am hungry for more on this subject.
(Pt 2 of comment) . . .in which people in different disciplines, (linguistics, economics, party politics, education, etc) are all comming from different directions, but approaching some common thinking trying to reconcile what we know of human congnition, human behaviour, the relationship between the individual and society, and the function of government and society.
Very interesting. I watched this to get an expanded version of the animated version. I am seeing some parallels in thinking between Hartford/Taylor, Chomsky/Lakoff, Westen, some deeper thinking economists, Mugata/Ken Robinson, the earlier writings of Goldwater and the later writings of John Dean trying define conservatism, etc, in which people in different disciplines, are all comming from different directions, but approaching some common thinking . . .
the government could simply work with the companies on advertising or something mcdonald's LOVES to downplay it's unhealthiness salads at the front would make for great PR opportunities, so the government could reach out and talk to businesses and ask them to do it, and provide a database or set of information on what advantages there are to doing it get them to want to do it themselves~
All problems from this world is because of educational system
A powerful message for everybody: We must understand that the right order is Heart over mind, not mind over heart as we usually do. The rational intelligence must be run by emotional intelligence.
this is the first time i encounter politics and science being discussed together..

It's the environment, and probably their perception of time, and whether they had to hurry up, or if they had plenty of time that day etc.
