  • example at 4:30 isn't that a deflection?

  • Please help! How does this stretch out to four moves? Regardless of Black's move, h4! positions Black's King for mate by the Knight or the light squared Bishop, or what have I overlooked?????

  • at 3:45 how it is mate in four? i couldnt see it after ...Nf5 noob here, plz help

  • @kmlcllgl i saw it no worries but its now in 6 or something

  • fork you, you forker.

  • At 5:40 you could also do Bishop f3 cos your rook would put his king in check and you can take his queen whatever he does :D not as good as checkmate but still...

  • SCRUBS WATCH THIS VID, LOL

  • @YsnipezYMw2

    thanks for the condescension...

  • Great vid!

    I learned a lot

  • @bmehoota I learned a smidgeon

  • wow i feel sooo stupid i couldn't even figure out these problems is there some way where i can get better at looking at these stuff?

  • you know it's impossible to have a white bishop there since you castled already...

  • @mrnoob547 It couldn't have retreated there from another square after white castled?

  • @blaizedproduction but wouldn't it be stupid to retreat it and waste a move? plus nothing was attacking the white square bishop so why should it have to retreat? just asking questions out of curiosity =P

  • @mrnoob547 All I was saying was that it's not impossible. The bishop could have retreated during any of the previous moves not just the last one. Besides, the point of the video is to explain a tactic. It doesn't really matter whether it's logical for it to be there or not.

  • I thought that first example would be considered a pin

  • This happened against me just the other day when I was playing against an IM

  • Wow, this is excellent! Even if black doesn't take the rook, he will be forced into checkmate

  • @thechesswebsite 5:02 hey kevin, my question is honestly why not move white bishop d2 to b4, luring the black bishop f 8 to capture then d1 rook protects d3 queen moving to d8 for checkmate? Also as a followup, if black bishop f8 declines the lure from white bishop b4, answering black pawn c6 to c5, then white still queen d3 to d8 checkmate. so why isn't b4 the best poison?

  • @TehNewSoars

    Bb4? Nd7

Double check is considered the single most powerful move in chess, in this e.g. (Bg5+dc) it leads to mate.

Reason DC is so powerful is that the defending opponent has limited options, he rarely can capture and must ALWAYS move his King and can NEVER intercede his own forces to rush to shield their leader.

  • @OmegaKent please explain how you can capture to prevent a double check?

  • @OmegaKent

like I said it's rare. You can only capture if one piece giving check is right next to the King, so when the King moves out check from one piece at the same time capturing the other checking piece.

  • CAN U BEAT GRAY KASPAROV CHESS juss curious lool u are pretty wicked

  • isn't this kinda the same thing as deflection?

  • What's the chess program that allows you play around like that? I've seen it before but dunno the name of it.

  • @FreewheelinLibertine Aquarium/Rybka from chesscentral

  • @thechesswebsite does it cost?

  • AWESOME VIDEO!! Chess Tactics Training like this is always fun.! Incidently I happened to make 2 videos on the same theme of deflection and decoying, so I posted it as a video response to this video.

  • virgin losers.

  • what is the difference between deflection and decoy?

  • Hey everyone watch the video with transcribed audio. It's hilarious.

  • lol

  • at around 4:22 that situation usually happens with the Sicilian bobby ficher opening

  • Petrosian and who? Pacman?!

  • 1:35 I was in the same situation yesterday. Nice tactic.

  • 1:35 I was in a similar situation yesterday. Nice tactics.

  • wow ... you've been working hard today lol ... keep them coming

  • @notNEWW yeah definitely have. I found out few weeks ago that for work I will be moving across the country so been crazy busy but had a free day so tried to knock out bunch of videos and update the site.

  • Fluid and fun. Thx for the video.

  • 2:06 chessgasm!!

  • there is nothing more satisfying in Chess than forking. So neat

  • yes and evan better is a chessgasm which is forking 3 pieces

  • So a decoy is basically the same as a sacrifice?

BTW, what chess program are you using to make these videos?

  • No, a decoy is different then a sacrifice but a decoy may involve a sacrifice. That is unless your talking about a temporary sacrifice to which I would say they are similar, but still not the same.

  • I am using Aquarium.

  • no, a decoy is a kinda lure. You're luring your opponent when you're decoying.

  • SECOND! w00t i am the best chess play0r 3v0r because of it

  • Nice.
