Maybe the molester should have been preached to by a cop while being arrested or a saved inmate in prison instead of a doctor who seems like he is not going to report him to the proper authorities. The reading itself was done by a girl who doesn't have much experience with her recording software, but the tract itself very clearly is meant to imply that ALL non-christians are baby-raping maniacs and that ALL christians automatically stop being perverted upon conversion. Notice how his "being saved" makes it ok to have done that and the cops don't need to be called. Also notice that the girl was instantly no longer traumatized the moment her daddy promised to stop molesting her.
If it wasn't it wouldn't be very effective, would it? If they painted atheists in a more accurate light, there would be less negativity to use as an appeal to emotion. We all know what happens to theists who run out of emotional appeals...

It's supposed to be sort of parodical, I was attempting to read the tracts in a cheesy, goofy way just to mirror how ridiculous these tracts are. This is my first time and I tend to be too serious

The reading itself was done by a girl who doesn't have much experience with her recording software, but the tract itself very clearly is meant to imply that ALL non-christians are baby-raping maniacs and that ALL christians automatically stop being perverted upon conversion. Notice how his "being saved" makes it ok to have done that and the cops don't need to be called. Also notice that the girl was instantly no longer traumatized the moment her daddy promised to stop molesting her.

That is unfair this tract DOES NOT in anyway represent main stream Christian thinking. Jack Chick is a maverick in every sense of the word & no serious Christian takes any notice of him at all. I myself had some involvement with setting up the Child Protection Policy for the Russian Church in Britain & we worked hard over a considerable time to get it right, including refering to Child Protection Policies of other Responsible Christian Organisations. This tract is a ridiculous oversimplification

To the contrary, christians in general might not use these same extreme examples, they constantly pick something terrible and apply it to atheists as a whole. It's only fair to add that not all do. Regardless, your response actually has little to do with what I said other than to glorify your own efforts.

If you can't understand an argument as plain as I laid out, then you need not be debating. The tract DOES reflect mainstream Christian thinking, though the pedophile example is more extreme than the more common examples, which usually are of the 'atheists are thieves' or 'atheists are liars' variety. Nevertheless, evangelism relies heavily on such negative blanket statements in order to paint an aversive picture of non-belief. Rarely do evangelists rely on reasoning or strong debate points.

Not being either an atheist of an evangelical I can't comment. Neither are 'thieves' or 'liars' synonyms for 'atheist'-not in my thesaurus anyway. Since I have not accused you of either I wonder what you are on about. Whether or not you choose to acknowledge mainstream Christian thinking about this subject is irrelevant. Chick does not represent it, but if you choose to think he does there is nothing I or anyone else can do about it. There are none so blind as those who won't see

Since I've not said anything scatological, i have to assume that you're still on about my name. This is your failing, not mine. Regardless, you did butt in, you butted into a conversation between myself and Defender Of Reason. Just because you did so a few months after we had stopped doesn't change the fact that you jumped into an existent conversation and tried to hijack it. I have no problem with people entering a conversation, but you were arguing against points not previously made.

There is nothing superficial about a name-a person's name is the most important word in his/her vocabulary. When it is a name that person chooses to be known by on the internet, it tells me even more about them. And then you have to be rude.............

No, it isn't. It's completely superficial. Having engaged in many conversations on the internet, I can tell you that you will discern very little about a person by their name. You personally might make assumptions about people based on their names (as you've clearly done to me), but that doesn't mean that your assumption is correct.
