@mrtrainboy019 The Western Pacific Railroad Museum (located about 10-15 miles East of here) likes to keep things original I guess. The Nathan M5 was the standard horn of the Western Pacific.
To see damage to the UP tracks caused by the flood of 97, search for flooding in the Feather River Canyon or "1997 New Years Flood in Plumas County Trailer"
The horn on the 6936 was not the sane one when it rolled out of LaGrange in the early 70s. Did it get the horn replaced when it went in for wreck repairs in 2001?
No Geep 40s there. 6936 is based out of werever the 3985 and 844 are, which i believe is either in Wyoming or Nebraska. The two other units are a GP20, and an F7.
Technically, a DD40X is two GP40X's on one frame. The difference between a GP40 and A GP40X is very small though, and for most practical purposes are the same.
GP40X's were the test units for the EMD 50 series. The 50's used a 645-F prime mover, as did the GP40X and SD40X (and the N&W SD50S) The 40 series had a 645-E, and that's that the DD40Xs had two of.-Jeffrey

Great video!! I saw 6936 yesterday in Rochelle. It had an S3L airhorn.

when the horn is first blowm, it sounds like a steam engine.
What happened to the horn it used when they were in active service (pulling actual freight trains)

Leslie Supertyfon model S5TRRO or S3LR horns, or they changed them. but what I just posted according to wikipedia is what they originally had.

Right, but she's wearing an M-5. I like that better an S3LR. Though, an RS5T would sound good.

A DD40AX is two GP40s. 2 16-645E turbos = 2 GP40s.
Nice M5R24 that came on it too, but S-5Ts are always better.-Jeffrey
