According to statistics, the family of the 14th Dalai Lama possessed 27 manors, 30 pastures and more than 6,000 serfs. About 33,000 ke (one ke equals 14 kilograms) of qingke (highland barley), 2,500 ke of butter, two million liang of Tibetan silver, 300 head of cattle, and 175 rolls of pulu (woolen fabric made in Tibet) were squeezed out of its serfs every year.

Problem with the Dalai Lama is that he lies about Tibet before Chinese rule. Tibet had a feudal society, a tiny minority of robber barrons and Lamas with the rest of the population living as oppressed servants. The elite agreed to Chinese rule as long as they could maintain their feudal society. The Chinese said 'OK' as revolution must come from the people anyway. The revolution came. As the most unstable element for Tibet and representative of serf owners, the Dalai Lama is not qualified for talking about human rights
"There is no historical evidence or present ground for the so called 'Greater Tibet' and 'high degree of autonomy', which are also against the will of the Tibetan people," Qiangba Puncog, chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Region, told a press conference on sideline with the annual session of the National People's Congress (NPC).

I respect the Dalai Lama very much. I do believe, however, that he should speak more slowly when he speaks in English-- he's very difficult to understand.

I think he speaks like that because his native language has a very fast pace, so it coencides in his english. just a thought

@StellaTortuga Ur not a native speaker of english? Im swedish and i understand everything, except if i dont understand a word in english, wich isent often with him due to he being not the best un-native speaker of english.

But isn't life about suffering also? It is a bad feeling but a reality that we must accept, as the Dalai lama mentioned here. I think we become more compassionate and strong from feeling the suffering if we accept it.
