Yes but for years we maintained the greatest level of production and GNP that exceeded our debt. It has only been since the 80's that the US productive capacity hasn't just shrank but deflated. Literally we make almost no real value based products in this country other then heavy industrial goods and weapons. Most other jobs are service related.

I know it's scary to see silver and gold going up and down but remember 2 things. 1st - I did not buy precious metals because I thought they were going up, I bought precious metals because I think the dollar is going to be worthess. 2nd - you cannot follow this on a week to week basis just wait to next year and see where we are.

I agree..but I think the people waiting to see silver 1,000 a ounce in 2010 are very Unrealistic..and will be deeply disappointed..I think in 2010 we may see silver $40.00 to $50.00..That is just my guess..Who knows it may even fall below $10.00..It's all speculative

rollinglibs101, IMO, you are correct. I bought a decent quantity from APMEX in oz bars January 2009 and watched it go up. It's going down right now, but I think it will go back up again. I'm still above the $11.69 I paid, so I'm not worried. I look at it as a store of wealth over the long term, not like day trading some I know that do in stocks. If it goes down to $5, well, I'll just get more. I got it for my daughters for the long haul.
