  • Inspiring playing and articulation. More please!

  • Bravo!!!!

  • Just a little fast but very good at all. Go to download the score...

  • The best performance of this piece on youtube

  • Excellent organiste découvert en écoutant sur Internet Pipedreams (American Public Media) Une très belle interprétation. du Grand BACH

  • Great performance. I thought the ending was kind of rushed though. I like it when the final chords last for more time.

  • I miss the 16'. Would have more balls.

  • Where's the 16' ?

  • Very good! I like the registration. Thanks for sharing!

  • Excelent performance!

  • Bravo to organist Karosi. Bravo to the organ builder. The JOY of the heavens and the intellect and soul of Bach shine through this performance. Thanks for posting!

  • @billy4you2 - thanks to you, too, for a great comment! I thoroughly agree.

  • I'll try again: Who is the organist??!

  • Who is the organist??

  • A concert organist myself, I must say I find this interpretaion very refreshing and alive; very close to how I would play it myself. Thank you!

  • @Machru To me a little fast,or the ok tempo

  • This is superb! best on you tube!

  • 134 positive hands up, but 7 hands down.

I wonder why someone would rate this negative.

  • @Esosphere 135 :)

  • Um....anyone who criticises this performance, given that this appears to be an unknown, or 'unfamous' organist, should hold their tongue. This piece is INCREDIBLY difficult, and none of us know how heavy the organ is to play. WELL DONE. I am impressed.

  • Tres Manufique!!! Bravo!!!

  • This is really great, the sound of that organ is very good i think.

  • Zseniális.

Nincs olyan felvétel esetleg, ahol Karosi Bálint Bach-tól a "nagy" C-mollt játsza?

A BWV 546-ost, azt a monumentális remekművet, prelúdiumot és fúgát. Szerintem sokan szívesen hallgatnánk az ő előadásában.

  • BRAVISSIMO! I really loved it!

  • Excellently played! And on a wonderful organ too!

  • Enfin une très belle version!!!.....et il n'y en a pas beaucoup sur youtube!

  • I've had the pleasure of playing this organ, and although that church looks like a caboose, the organ is FANTASTIC. The 8' plenum in that space is really remarkable. The action is clear and responsive! The organ is unfinished, though, if I remember correctly. Next stop, Church of the Advent!

  • il joue bien ce petit:)

  • Bach debió ser un gran matemático, la presición de sus notas es casi armonía matemática pura.

  • Красиво!

  • that's a Frobenius

  • Well done. This really is a GREAT piece.

  • The best one ever composed!

  • My mind is blown.

  • Once more, after listening one Fantasy by the same organist, why does he use a reed, it would have been good at the end of the fuga.

And there is not progression at all, it is a pity in a fuga, remaining on same keyboard and same stops from beginning to end, when we know that Bach liked to change keyboards in a performance...

    Let's forget this one...

  • C'mon Balint--You've deservedly built-up an audience and we want more Bach-videos-pleeeze. I, also would like to hear BWV 543 and BWV 538, both, I'm sure you've played many, many times! Maybe you're working-up a load of Bach now--can't wait--thanks, again!

  • no one can right a fugue like bach. god i love listening to this fugue. do you think that you can post a video of you playing the fugue in a minor bwv 543.

  • For me his performence is too fest . I think, this fugue should be monumental and realy THE GREAT, and he plays too light and to fast, but his technique is the best

  • I agree with you. Not muscular enough, pedal notes are too short.

  • This is marvellous! I have listened to more than 90 recordings (I think) of this fugue. Karl Richter is my "hero" in Bach-interpretations, especially the recording from the early/mid -60's at Jægersborg Church, Copenhagen. And this recording/interpretation is outstanding too, in my ears! I really enjoyed listening to this!! Thanks for sharing!!! :) I'll search for Toccata & Fugue too, played by this brilliant organist! Anybody that knows if it's "posted" here? (Excuse my rather poor English) :)

  • WATCH OUT--He's the best out there!

  • kedves Bálint!

    gratulálok, keresetlen, szép előadás volt!

    kergyuri

  • heavenly

  • Excelente el organista.

La fuga es de lo mejor de JSB.

    ¡Bravíssimo.!

  • Fantastic! My absolute favorite organ piece!

  • Wonderful! Great exuberant tempo. STOP BREAKING ALL PEDAL NOTES! You also can't phrase and articulate pedalines if all notes detached. But love the detached fugue subject notes also continued in the pedal. Love your phrasing and articulation. No reed in pedal if none in manuals. Fantastic. Thank you. I needed that. You have made my day.
  • Of course you can have reeds in the pedal and none in manuals!

And yes, it's sounds much better with legato in the pedal. And of course you can articulate even with playing legato! You just have to be very exact!

I like this performance very much! The tempo is slightly over the tempo I would play this in and sometimes it can feell a little bit over articulated but it's still very good played!

  • Do you not agree that it is unbalanced with reed in the pedal but not in the manuals?

Why have more in the pedal?

I dislike the trend many seem to be following like unthinking sheep that pedal notes be separated.

I like separation for phrasing and articulation, but so often the musical line is ruined with the notes ALL separated.

Connecting them requires more planning and effort but it is more pleasing.

  • Not on this organ! I think that his registration on this organ is pretty much perfect! Maby some more mutation stops in the manuals!

If the pedal reeds are to strong you can always use a manual coupler and borrow. This perticular reed that he is using does not seem powerful at all.

Yes conecting them requires a lot more planning and a lot more effort but of course even the greatest of all organists has to work hard to get things perfect! I know I have strugle a lot with the articulation.

  • I have one recording of Bach which you can listen to if you like. It's not perfect but I think that it's pretty much what you meen with connecting the notes and still articulate very acurate so you hear all notes!

  • You have a recording of Bach !?!?! That I would love to hear lol ;-)

  • i have one were I play bach! lol

Not one of Bach playing Bach! haha

  • masterful

  • Very enjoyable!

  • perfect.

  • Einfach Super!!

  • I absolutely agree. As an organist, I am moved by his presentation of this piece. Simply beautiful.

  • you should play the a minor fugue bwv 543, it's a beautiful peice.

  • you should hear e power biggs play this piece.

  • Wow. A beautiful piece! The organist is simply wonderful as well! The best I've heard of this fugue!

  • Ahhh, he plays this piece like it's supposed to be played: savagely fast. Well done indeed!!

  • lyrical and sublime playing...maestro material here.

  • very well played.

  • Your phrasing, articulation and choice of tempo allow the piece to dance and breathe. I love the clarity of the sound too. Congratulations on a brilliant performance.

  • Not sure what else to say apart from ............ EXCELLENT!!! Well done, superb performance. John

  • glorious !!!!!!

  • He just took first place at the Leipzig Bach Festival bi-annual organ competition!!!!

  • Ah you've been saying this for all of his videos! But I couldn't agree more :)

  • Superb! Great interpretation and technique! I love playing this and its so nice to hear a good performance! Your articulation is very acurate and well executed! I so enjoyed hearing your performance. BRAVO!

  • On this organ and in this church it is not too fast, but if you play this piece in a large cathedral on a very big organ, how is your tempo then?

  • Ein Meister dieser Ungar, trotz zweier kleiner technischer Fehler, die vielleicht dem etwas überzogenen Tempo geschuldet sind.

  • Kapkodsz.

  • The playing certainly is alive and compelling. The tempo seems appropriate. Perhaps the only question might be why some of the rhetorical figures that make up the fugue subject at broken apart because of the choice to articulate at a certain spot.

  • excuse me... Which are the rhetorical figures you refer to? And where should they they occur, instead of being broken appart?

  • It sounds like some of the ranks might speak rather slowly. Distance? Action? Who knows. Excellent playing however.

  • Very well played - I love this piece!

  • I think FLC is very fortunate to have such a gifted musician - very impressive performance.

  • I love those staccato notes in the beginning...

  • why are all think on every peace on youtube that it is to fast? they are all enviers!

  • yes, the tempo is perfect - it dances and the articulation is clear, so we hear everything.

  • a one-man orgy .. with arms flying .. feet dancing and body rocking! Bach's creation takes you over and puts its pelvis to the throttle; you dissolve as the alien now thrills us with the sound of his ravaging organ while he's swaying to the rhythm of the cosmic beat ..

mr balint karosi .. keep playing .. continue forever to serve the muse .. for you are now her slave

    best wishes

  • there are worster moving-organists like him. watch camrun or virgil vox.

  • You are the greatest Bach organist I have ever heard. I could listen to this piece over and over again. Your understanding of Bach and the mastery you have of the organ shines. I hope you post more videos.

    Thank you!

  • Agreed 110%

  • I don´t think that he plays to fast, I think it´s good tempo.

  • 4:15 is my best part!

  • mine is the long pedal tone at 3:00 and the way the bass moves up from it in sequence at 3:14

  • yea, but 4:15 is the climax of the piece. all voices are interacting at full counterpoint at that point.

  • there is no climax for a peace. bach never wrote on the topic of his peace this fugue has exactly to have 4:15. your talk is not realy profesional. scientists say that in the baroque they played all slower than now!

  • Why would scientists say that? It ispossible that Bach played slower than we think because his students told their students and those students told their students and so on... That does not mean Bach played things slowly I am sure he would play some things quite fast to make thigs more exciting in certain cases...

  • Bach probably played it differently every time. I bet he would be disappointed if he heard all the bickering over a single note and the musical snobbery and criticism that goes on nowadays. Obviously as Kapelmeister, so many works are almost religious artifacts..but I think he probably enjoyed just the pure fun of creating music (almost the "Pop Music" of his day) - JB was a genius - his output was incredible - and he inspired a lot of other musicians (you know who)

  • I love you're expression. It seems very fluid and lyrical, but not at all in the classical or romantic sense. I love J.S. Bach and after watching most of your videos, I am in awe of your talent and your ability to bring to life the compositions of the genius organist and composer from the Baroque. Thank you!

  • To fast!

  • The tempo is good: it make this long-streched theme more comprehensible. His pedal play is virtuosic: no retarding or delaying; Excellent.

Unfortunately he "runs trough" the fuga instead of giving a proper phrasing, which may be sensed as "too fast." He does not use cadences or the completion of a musical thought as points of rest or relaxation.

  • Hmm...I would be very interested in hearing Mr. Karosi playing Prelude & Fugue A-minor BWV 543...

  • We don't know how he plays BWV 543, but this is played very well.

  • Great job! I love this piece!

  • you are a genius ... respect ! Real nice ! Absolutly wonderful! Keep on playing and poste more videos !

    Johnsen

  • you are really really good! 5+

  • this is one of my favorite fuges of all time,it's a shame that most people in this world doesn't understand how wonderful Bach's music really is, you've played this peice very, very well.

  • I fully agree! And a very good interpretation aswell!

  • yeah, that's right, but it's sequence of democracy. When Bach lived, Princes supported artists like Bach, today folk rule, and city councils support only "artists" of pop-culture or techno, hiphop etc.

  • Very convincing performance of this extraordinary and powerful creation of the great J.S. Bach...

Just listen 3 or more times, this music is pure sex! Thanks for posting, for me its the best version on youtube so far.

  • Bravo. Curious: what'd you think of the flat pedals?

  • Ennél tökéletesebben nem is lehet előadni egy művet. Ezt még Bach is megirigylné.

  • excellent rendition of this piece, and one of the best i have seen, really enjoyed the clip, thanks for posting.

  • Seems like the guy not only knows what he's doing but also feels the music.

    Bravo!

  • a real sound orgasm I would say. So delicate, and nice.

  • Very good indeed. I like the registration, nice and clear.

  • A very good rendition of the fiendishly difficult G minor "Great" fugue. Bravo, bravo. I thought the organist was very fluent and confident. I shall now go seek the Fantasia. For those interested, I can highly recommend Simon Preston's recording on Deutsche Grammophon 435381-2. This interpretation has striking similarities to Simon Preston's. Many thanks for posting this clip - wonderful stuff.

  • minden elismerésem :)
