I have a Astra by toastmaster 4 slice model D132.Any idea how old it is.I think from early 70's.Also can heat elements be replaced?people say just buy a new one.I don't want a new chinese junk toaster that will burn out in 2 yrs.I bought this toaster at a rumage sale 26 yrs ago. one element went out on left side.can it be replaced?
@smithdsmit Nice rummage sale score. I do believe that the element can be repaired or replaced, but I am not an electrician or a fix-it man, so you should seek a professional opinion. Thanks for viewing.
I have a Sunbeam toaster that was manufactured in July, 1956. (I know the date because I opened it up once to fix it, and the date is stamped inside). It still works great. It's heavy as lead - real American made old-time quality. It has out lasted 3 toaster ovens that were just toss away junk.
@danders76 That's awesome! That old saying "They don't make 'em like that anymore" sure is true when it comes to toasters. Thanks for viewing, I appreciate your comment.
Yes, that toaster is 40 years old. Grandmother is 87. Thanks for viewing and for leaving a comment. I appreciate your interest in my video. Check out my other videos in this playlist.
I actually enjoyed this vid pretty cool , that toaster has seen alot of stuff , but seriously people don't post bad comments about the vid kay? If you don't like it then why did you search it up?
Wow! That toaster looks brand new. I wonder how many times it needed repair over the decades. It must be one of the last things that doesn't say 'Made in China' on it. Tell your grandma that someone on YT wants to know where it was made and by which company. My friend Julie is works at an historic house and she calls everything over 20 years old a precious artifact. She'd want to put your grandmother's entire kitchen in a museum. :)
It is a Western Auto branded toaster and it was purchased at Watson's Western Auto in Dover, TN. It has never needed a repair and has been kept in pristine condition since it was first purchased. Thanks for your interest in this video, please share it with your friend Julie. I appreciate your support.
Thank you for your interest in my video projects. I will keep an eye open for a hot Chinese girl who would be willing to appear in a video. Thanks for viewing and thanks for leaving a comment.
love stuff like this realy interesting, good on ya dude, cant see why some of these other guys have posted the nasty coments, if they dont want to watch it then why search for 40 year old toaster?
Wow! Thank you for the encouragement and support. I hope you will enjoy some of the other videos in this series. Thanks for leaving a comment, I appreciate it.
Yes, there will be more. Thanks again for the comments and interst, I sincerely appreciate the attention. All publicity is good publicity. Maybe this will help generate more Honors for this video!
wow man get a life, this is the crappiest thing ive ever saw and if u notice it took ages to "toast" approx over a minute and look wow it came out as white as it went in, buy a new toaster yours looks crap cheapskate by your gran a new one

Exactly! One reason I shop at thrift stores. A person can find American made products that last a life time. Thank's for the demonstration. Younger generation now days see mostly imports.
It's pretty cool to see that thing still going strong. 40 years is a very respectable age for any electric appliance, and it is really true as you say, the don't make 'em like that anymore. Thing's nowadays aren't meant to last, but to be replaced as soon as the warranty has expired.

What brand of toaster is it?
Just shows my grandmother was right--she always said "you treat a toaster right, it's yours for life".

It's a Western Auto branded toaster.

Get a toaster that actually toasts the bread, and while you're at it get some friends. Loser.
satchow 4 years ago 2
I had it set on the lightest setting. Thanks for viewing, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
dra999 4 years ago
"They don't make them like this anymore". Yeah, no shit. Toasters now actually TOAST.
While you're in grandmother's kitchen, next to grandmother's toaster, why don't you get grandmother's knife and stab yourself with it. Dork.
satchow 4 years ago 2
I'll consider that as a possible future video project! Thanks for the feedback and interest in my presentations.
