We didnt get a computer until i was 6. And we've always had Windows and i it kept getting virus. I think we up until this year we've had to get 3 different computers cause it kept getting viruses. The reason macs can't do those things are because of Microsoft's anticompetitive, monopolistic position in the OS market. It is true that Apple dropped support of Stuffit however, but it does include software to compress files. OS X Leopard, apple's current OS, is vastly superior to the competition, and is the main reason apple leads in customer satisfaction.

As far as looking good, Vista did a good job copying Apple's 2 year old OS ;)

People are 'downgrading' from Vista to xp it's so slow (I actually consider it an upgrade :D ), and xp came out in 2001. Leopard came out in 2007, and being someone who has used all 3, xp and is indeed far behind Leopard in performance, reliability, etc. However, Vista Ultimate almost has the same amount of included software as Leopard does (even though the software mimicing apple's isn't nearly as good, ie movie maker, windows media player, etc).

Mac OS 10 Leopard is UNIX 03 certified. It's a real unix.

Linux, on the other hand, is absolutely NOT Unix. Linux was originally built as a completely separate unix clone, but has since grown into its own operating system. Other true unixes include HP/UX, Solaris, etc.
