I agree wit paraglj on all the points. It is very true that the genre of song selected has become a big factor in influencing the way the general public look at the participants' performance. The judges open bias towards some jenres also adds to it.

medwoolkar .... your disagreement is only half factual. While she has sung many songs you mention ... except for "ab ke sawan" everything was very ordinary. Her strong voice and the "puneri" audience's bias towards her kind of songs has seriously clouded the true measure of her performances.

I ordinarily would refrain from commenting on poor performances. But this bias really gets me.

All those "experts" who so much bash UD suddenly develop a choked voice when it comes RL's performances.

Except that UD has never even attempted the front line Lata/Asha songs! I agree this was not very nice, but considering RL's voice texture, she applied it quite well and softly.

BTW Why do you bother about "experts" when you are no less?

I disagree. This was not her best; but considering the variety she has provided from fast to slow, from natyasangeet to "ab ke saawan", from Abhisheki to Lata, she seems like a complete package.

The song moves back and forth she just sang it in straight line.
