Usually a Mother holds out for the sake of her child in such a scenario, suicide is only an option if she has lost any and all hope. Nancy was right to follow her instincts. And if the police would have handled Melinda with heavier verbal hand while she was in their care, she would have collapsed under questioning, and we would now know where Trenton is. Nancy only did want any prosecutor would do, given the facts she had to work with. I would have done the same.

Nancy Grace might be a hard ass sometimes and a little forward with her thoughts and views, but I truly believe she does her work for the victims. Granted, she at times is arrogant as crap and her make-up makes me wish I had an eraser that could scrub off her 80's eyeshadow, but I respect her for putting most people in their place.
