I also have a parson and she is starting to become more calm, she's still hyperactive when she's super happy.. like when someone comes to the house or when we go out on a family trip, or when she's playing... sometimes... for no reason. But she used to be hyperactive ALL THE TIME as a puppy, she's 6 years old... but the first 5 years were tough! Having one of this dogs requires a great effort from you behalf, I have to take my jack russell for a morning run everyday if I want some peace :P

you are right, she is a PARSON, in the begining I didn't know the diference!!! They are longer legs, but the same crazy ways!!!! Nowadays she is all they playing and hunting everything she finds in its garden!!!

@taf1981 The major difference between Parson terriers and Jack Russell terriers is the fact that the requirement for Parson Terriers is narrower. To be registered as a jack russell it has to be between 10 and 15 inches tall. Parson's have to be between 12 and 14. Jack Russells are not supposed to have really short legs like corgis or dachshunds. The JRT standard calls for a well proportioned dog that is as tall as it is long.

Hey....My dog looks EXACTLY like this puppy. The exact same markings on the back of the neck, same white spot on the nose, same way of playing and laying down and the exact same fork on the back of the neck leading from the brown head to the white body. The ears are the same too....do you still have this dog because I got mine she's going to be 2....I'm not kidding when I say they look exactly alike!

Great!!!! Now mine has 2 and a half years, and she is even more crazy, playing all day, hunting everything that moves on my garden, and everyday she is better dog!!!!

I think Russells are kind dogs with his owner, but at same time jealous too, like Dalamatas. Mine goes crazy when I arribe at home, she brings me all his tennis balls (best toy for her!!). Enjoy Your Russell

My jack russel is lethal. The neighbor's dog got into our backyard once and our dog went into battle mode. She took cover under the table and struck at the most opportune times. The neighbor's dog was eventually thought "f this" and went back to her yard. My dog plays fine when there is a fence between them, but without a barrier... forget it.

That's true!!! Mine is a very kind dog with everyone, but she had tried to kill my mother's dog (a yorkie), I think because she is jealous about the yorkie!!

If you want to laugh a lot, try to inflate a glove and throw it in the air. Mine goes crazy trying to catch it, and she knows that it explodes, but still wants to catch it!!! LOL

Same here mine really don't like me touching other dogs, Once he saw me tapping the head of my neighbor's dog (a German Shepherd) automatically he attacked her. He just really want to be the apple of the eye. Everyday he give me a big hug when I come home.. If you want a affectionate don't have a Russell Terrier...

for me, jacks are the best ever, but "ledamte" is right, they need a lot of activity and exersise, they are very clever. Mine has a little bit of trouble with other dogs females (sorry for my english!!)

they are attention getters and if you won't pay attention to them they will grab anything they can to get a chase out of you, not a dog for the weak or lazy person, they need excersise and activity, however they are cute and cuddly when rested, absolutely fearless and will chase a rabbit a mile

My parson smooth hair is very smart she always listens when she is called more so then my smooth fox terrier who is also very smart she just has selective hearing :) I recommend them to anyone they are lots of fun!

mine is very smart, for exemple, when we go to walk to mountain, she always walks without the rope, and all time is looking where I am, when I call her, she comes immediatelly. Another exemple, when I'm at home, she is all time happy and playing, and when I go away she gets quiet, and doesen't cry or moan. I think that if you buy one, you will not get wrong!!!! Sorry for my english, I do my best!!

The one my mother had was very smart. He collects the paper, and got a "payment" for that. Than he figured out that the content with the used paper, maybe could be reused for more payment. We didn't buy it. Then he just shacked the paper in separate pages, and brought them one by one. More payment, same paper. A trick we didn't learn him.

I adopted a JR from a local shelter, he was 1 year old at time. total cost - with micro chip and neutering was 90.00 - best little dog. I also have a Rat Terrier. Both are boys and they get along great! Terriers RULE!
