@OldSchoolNascar But they shouldn't go to Las Vegas again. Yes, 'true' Americans hate circuits and love bowls, but go to the right circuit (or gt the right layout in the case of Sears Point) and you'll get great racing. Just look at the BTCC, Turismo Carretera and British F3 for great 2-wide racing on various circuits. If Greece didn't exist, then a round in Britain could have success.
I heard they might be bringing this race back next year, which is cool.....I'm still a firm believer that there needs to be a balance of road courses and ovals to keep the racing diverse. In my opinion that's what has always made American open wheel racing more interesting than any other form of motorsport in the world. What other series races on tight and twisty street circuits, wide open super speedways, and on winding undulating natural road courses. The answer.....none
@XXformula I'm the nephew of a past owner of the track and he says they're coming back for sure. I'm trusting his judgement. Good news for the world of motorsport
Man i was at the 2002 2004 2009 and 2010 race at chicagoland and it really sucks that its gone because the racing there was just spectacular. Why does the irl have to take out all the good race tracks? First kansas and now chicagoland? I dont know if i can even watch this series anymore without those tracks.
@sportsdud22 Because people are broke and don't have the money to take a day off, go all the way to an oval, which are often out of town or a bit far, watch a race and came back. It somehow become "cheaper" to organize a street race than race on oval. It's not really a political decision for the indy racing league, it's just profit!
WHY did Indy remove this track from the schedule!!!!!!!!????? This was the best track PERIOD! You know what they say- "If it ain't broke, DONT FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!!"
@DriftTheApex NASCAR at Chicagoland is driving left all the time. And that's coming from a NASCAR fan who hasn't missed a race there. Indycar was a skill. Only the greatest drivers could run 3-wide constantly at 215 MPH for 2 hours. Think about that next time Sebastian Vettel wins by 5 days.
@OldSchoolNascar He doesn't by 5 days, adn F1 is pretty shabby at the moment. I agree, IndyCars are great, but NASCAR is a tin-top cover which doesn't work for me. No offence, but NASCAR sucks.
@seantal007 Yeah, i was almost happy that somebody like Hamilton crashed every second race. The only F1-questions: IS LOTUS CALLED CATERHAM NEXT YEAR? and HOW MANY CHAMPIONSHIPS CAN VETTEL WIN???
@FreekyFreezer hmm i wasn't so happy about that , cuz I'm half british and half german and i am a huge hamilton fan . love his aggressive driving style. i really dont like vettel he's just unsympathic to me but i like schumi (: hope mercedes and mclaren have better cars next season so there'll be great and exciting racing again.
doesn't mean i think vettel is bad - he's awesome - i just dont like him ^^
uhm i really don't know about the lotus thing , sry :b
@seantal007 haha i'm hamilton fan too. but the f1 races are so fuckin boring that i begin to celebrate every crash...except hamilton vs massa last weekend
Chicagoland was good but I mean, racing isn't just about driving around a boring circle all of the time. They need a variety to make it entertaining. Makes people wonder why V8 Supercars and BTCC are so popular?
@Racecarwrecks people are interested in different types of racing. this is just one track that made the indycar series unique. Go back to Europe if ya dont like it
Tell me this isn't final... After being bored with two months of nothing but road and street courses, now they're gonna take away one of the most exciting tracks. And they had another epic race last night...
We got all these fuckin street courses and road courses and they are boring as fuck and the IRL decided to get rid of a great track i was planning to go to in 2011. Fuck whoever made this decision
@legonascar88fan yeah street courses are boring as fuck compared to an oval track where all you fo is steer left for hours. That is REALLY exciting dude
just watched the indy lights race here..another close finish...makes no sense why they would get rid of this track its probably the best oval they have
NO. Just NO! That track built up its history in F1/USAC. All it has left is NASCAR now, which will keep wrecking the track.
Homestead I can agree with and Kansas, Cali getting a date back is a badmove IMO, that track's forever linked with 1999 in my mind and I think Indycars don't need to run there.
Apparently they're ditching Glen, Homestead, and Kansas as well and supposedly Fontana is getting a date.
From what i also read is Chicagoland got canned since Nascar has a date there for the chase next season, and it's not like Nascar has any excitement when they race there
Why would they get rid of Chicago on their schedule. That's like removing Darlington from Nascar. They just have too much great history and so many great finishes and racing. I hope the Indycar knows what they're doing.
There are tons of downsides and upsides for the IRL. The tracks they choose are an upside and downside, the downside is getting rid of the tracks that were true history or exciting, like Chicago.
thank you for posting buddy rices flip from that angle Iv been looking for it
