Needs to be reported to the Dept of Weights and Measures....they would not look kindly on this...better hurry though...I think it is one of the gov't depts that the Repubs want to do away with...just like FDA, Dept of Education and a host of other agencies met to protect the public...sorry got carried away....
Shell will rip you off!! Be careful if you have unemployment debt card they will double charge you..When you call too complain they swear it will show back up in account but it never does..Me and shell are done!!
MORON! It's just a pressure loss, of course you pay for it dummy. Its not supposed to do that. I replace nozzles, filters, and other parts. It happens. You can just unscrew the fuel filter below if you need free gas, ya cheap bastard!
It's considered a "service charge" for using the gas pump to fuel up you're tank.. They claim the money pays for gas pump maintenance, I've seen this shit done in Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Texas and so forth. I agree, it's bullshit but that is the American way.. Corporations passing the buck onto the little people while continuing to charge out the ass for fuel. Corporate Bastards!!
almost all gas stations do this. they say they are charging you for what it left in the line from the last person. so they are double charging 4-12 cents, twice, for every customer that comes. jsut a way for they to cheat more money. most gas stations actually only make money from what you buy inside, not the gas.
This happens because the hose is empty as a result of the last customer not filling their tank all the way. A pump that's working properly will detect this and not charge for the gas that's filling the hose back up.
Gas can expand and contract, due to temperature, up to 12-percent. So, if you really want a 'rip off windfall', fuel at the coldest part of the day, and drive during the warmest part of the day...it will more than make-up for 'being shorted' 0.04. Ironically, most big cities tell you to do just the opposite to prevent smog...which will hit not only your wallet, but your fuel mileage as well...but it DOES increase their fuel-tax-base. Imagine that.
@MountainDweller67 fuel is kept in underground storage tanks where temperature is relatively constant. That expansion/contraction line is an urban myth.
4 cents a gallon is most stations margin per gallon sold so if 300 cars visit that station & each is charged 4 cents before even pumping its like the station gets an extra 300 gallons. almost every station does this type of thing ever wonder how come you can put 12.9-13.4 ect in a 12 gallon tank
that 4or 5 cents is in the hose if you turn the pump off squeeze the trigger on the pump raise the hose up it will run in your tank then the next one loses the gas left from u its the gas it takes to fill the hose up u are getting the gas from the person before u if u do the above u are getting the next persons 4 or 5cents worth of gas
It's actually 4 cents, or 0.04 dollars; not 0.04 cents.
