  • Yes, what you're seeing looks silly, but that's because it is incredibly exaggerated to produce measurable, consistent data. The custom-built stabilization rig is very similar to what manufacturers use to test these features during development.

The truth is, what you see is accurate: the HV40 does not have effective image stabilization.

  • I own this camera, and while this example is somewhat exaggerated, the image stabilization on the HV40 is next to worthless. I shoot a lot of driving POV shots using a tripod set-up in my car. When using a Sony camcorder this results in footage which is smooth as glass. The Canon however jitters and quakes and records footage which is next to useless.

  • I don't really see any difference.

  • Step 1: Buy tripod.

    Step 2: ????

    Step 3: Profit

  • seriously what do you expect letting michael j fox use your camera?

  • Did you had a vibrator up ur ass when you shot this?

  • please dont take this seriously!!!!!!!! ive seen him do this on EVERY camera!! its too funny

  • LMAO...this is the worst example of image stabilization I have ever seen!!!! great comment.....

  • same shit????

  • hehe....

  • Oh come on, whose hand actually vibrates that fast!? LOL!

  • The Stabilization is TERRIBLE!
