  • he's constantly flying on the edge of a stall

  • That is one of the better strips around.Misterwillie060 obviously isn't from NZ.With these strips a taildragger is hard work especially in a tailwind!

  • That is Derek Williams flying JAA. He has over 30000 hours. He is starting to get the hang of it.....

  • cool

  • Fairly normal for this pilot i'm sure.I remember loading the 400 till it overflowed with a good wind on the nose and a downhill strip and run to the start of the spread.

    Nice video.

  • Of course its low - there is no point climbing when you have to drop the load at low level. He is also following a valley which is quite a bit lower than the airfield. No dramas, but looks impressive.

  • what a great sound cant beat the ole 400 great flying too

  • Why is he flying a tricycle gear airplane when Conventional Gear is obviously superior?

  • Kiwi Super pilots are probably the best in the world! Being half Kiwi half Aussie I don't mind being a bit biased. These guys earn their money......the one in this video is obviously very exerienced. The growl of the 400 is only outdone by the roar of the 600hp P&W (Ceres, Thrush & Air Tractor)

  • If thats the pilot I think it is, then he's probably done around 30000 hrs doing that sort of very demanding flying day in day out when the weather is suitable.

  • those wings must provide incredible amounts of lift for a plane to be moving that slow with over a ton of cargo

  • I´m waiting for the moment when the engine fails ...

But with terrain-follow radar it should´nt be a problem to fly that path x)

  • Whats that climb rate 1foot a min... man I would not like to be hauling that lump around.

  • @TheExtremeAnimation sounds good to me mate as anything that gets the young people of our world using there brains is always a good thing ;-)

  • @TheExtremeAnimation well you have me lost there now mate but i'm sure it makes you happy so i'm happy and i hope all went well ;-)

  • You would have to know the terrain pretty well to do that. I'm guessing it wouldn't be able to pull up in a hurry.

  • Wow! That would have been an amazing experience to fly that low between the hills. I bet you'll get a ton of commenters upset over that one :D

  • That looks a bit overweight. I would NOT fly in that plane.

  • I wouldn't want to be his old lady and doing his washing LOL,thumbs up.

  • @TheExtremeAnimation lol thanks for the info but most of us know that as there are a few videos on this channel on this very subject also he was on scrap heap challenge which was on TV in the UK ;-)

  • Ahhh, good old fletcher!, haven't seen one around here for years, close friend of my old man used to fly one, used to love seeing it come over our place doing a wing wag. Built tough and does a great job, Turbine version even better again.

  • howly mowly scary scary scary

  • I think you would need to plan your route wisely!!!!!!!!!!

  • My goodness that's low!

  • That's one thick wing.
