@greatsayain, I imagine it was done genetically - they looked at the relatedness and established the panda's evolutionary roots, and found it was more related to a racoon than a bear, despite its appearance. Outside looks aren't everything. As for why it eats bamboo, I have no idea. Seems stupid to me too.

@cowofthemonth yes. I don't know how you "discover" someth gin is a bear. what kind of criteria are ther for bearyness. When i was little i saw a picture of a panda and it was quite obviously a bear. I don't know why anyone would thing different. As a bear it should eat whatever it can get its hands on. I don't get why it eats something that doesn't nurish it and it just grass so it probably tastes aweful.

It's the difference between local TV programming in your country, and an internet based video hosting service that is owned by an American company (Google, based in California USA). Not sure why YouTube/Google would bother to block the adverts for you in Britain, as they would receive no benefit from doing so. Sorry :-(

@kuniko7 Well I understand that but not all youtube videos have adverts associated with them, so it's clearly something the BBC has set up, as opposed to a policy of Google/Youtube. I hear that BBC has an American TV channel, does that have adverts on it?

@fenhen So yes, in this way BBC makes money via YouTube using the US based advertisements they put up, since we here didn't pay a fee for seeing the original programming. As for BBC America, that is a cable TV show that people pay for when they subscribe to a cable TV service. In fact, here the BBC gives information to prospective advertisers on BBC America (not able to post link) I do not subscribe to cable TV, I only watch free TV, because I am cheap! :-)

By googling I found out that pandas grow 5-6 feet long and have teeth of about 3 inches, while beavers grow 2-3 feet long and have teeth about 2-3 inches. But maybe that's google for you...

AFTER they did some guesses he said "no, it's an ANIMAL", and lastly when giving the answer he said it has the largest teeth of any MAMMAL.
