@marksims68 Yes, it is the Callanish standing stones. Since this is one of my favourite Ultravox songs, i decided to take my user name after the place name in the gaelic spelling - Calanais!

The "godfather of punk," manager and "mastermind" of the seminal "punk" band -- the Sex Pistols, was Great Britain's Malcolm McLaren. He was also the manager of the New York Dolls, Adam Ant, and Boy George. According to Sex Pistol lead singer Johnny Rotten, his manager was "the most evil man alive."] McLaren "was brought up by his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Corre, a formidable woman from a very rich Sephardic Jewish family
The anarchistic Sex Pistols, notes the London Independent, were "brought into being quite cynically by Malcolm McLaren as an advertising gimmick to promote sales of the fetishistic clothes and other devices designed and sold by himself and Vivienne Westwood." (The Ramones are also a candidate for the most influential punk band. The head of the Ramones, Joey Ramone -- born Jeffrey Hyman -- is also Jewish. )
@ElectricPineapple79 The Jew Howie Klein founded the "punk" rock label 415. Joseph Heller, formerly of Heller-Fischel, booked acts like Styx, the Electric Light Orchestra, Boz Scaggs, and a variety of others. "He represented top-drawer rock talent like Van Morrison, the Guess Who, Marvin Gaye, War, Elton John and Pink Floyd
@ElectricPineapple79 Stretching out as dangerously as possible to make a buck, Heller eventually gravitated towards a relative goldmine in the Black ghetto-based "gangsta rap." He cofounded Ruthless Records and managed the pioneer rap group NWA (Niggaz With Attitude) from early in their careers. The musical genre of gangsta rap, notes Jory Farr, "thrives on misogyny, as well as homophobic and race-baiting rage ...
@ElectricPineapple79 Heller hired Ira Selsky as his corporate attorney and an Israeli-born security chief named Michael Klein to ward off angry, exploited Blacks who quite literally walked into his office threatening to kill him. Rap star Ice Cube even threatened Heller in one of his recorded songs, prompting the Anti-Defamation League to flag it as anti-Semitic.
@Ep The landmark 1969 Woodstock Musical Festival was the entrepreneurial investment of four young Jews: Joel Rosenman, John Roberts (heir to a pharmaceutical fortune), Artie Kornfeld, and Michael Lang. The person hired to pull the whole project together was Stanley Goldstein. Mel Laurence (born Melvin Bernard Lachs) was also the Director of Operations for the festival creators, Woodstock Ventures. Bert Cohen, of Concert Hall Publications, soon joined the production team for various tasks
The first employee of Woodstock ventures was Rene Levine, a bookkeeper and another Jew, Alex Jaffee, was the company's accountant. In a book chapter called "Buying Off the Underground," Joel Rosenman and others of the Woodstock Ventures investment team went to Greenwich Village's East Village Other "counterculture" newspaper to buy them off, guaranteeing that prominent members of that anti-capitalist community wouldn't cause problems with the economic exploitation of the supposed lovegeneration
What about the Beatles,Oh yes, they had closeJewishconnections as well.Brian Epstein, their agent/manager and Sid Bernstein, their promoter, were both Jewish.Brian signed over to Dick James 50 percent of Lennon and McCartney's publishing fees for nothing. It made him wealthy beyond imagination in eighteen months.James sold the rights to the Beatles songs from under them.It was the single most contentious deal arising from the Epstein-James era.The Beatles were angry at what they regarded as betrayal
The magazine "Bible" of rock and roll music, Rolling Stone, was founded by Jewish entrepreneur Jann Wenner. Wenner is also "the single most important person behind" Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. Joel Siegel, later prominent as a film critic, was also "TV's first rock and roll reporter."
To my surprise," writes Jewish author Michael Billig, "song after well-known pop song, revealed itself to 'Jewish music,' from [Elvis] Presley to the soft sounds of the Drifters to [producer] Phil Spector. So much of the rebellion-music which I had loved in my youth and which seemed to be a window to a foreign, dangerous world, turned out to be a product of familiar surroundings. Surprise was mixed with delight."
As Syd Nathan, the owner of KingRecords, once said,"You want to be in the record business? "The early rhythm and blues companies were run by a fraternity of Jews,They were tough and they were shrewd ,some say unscrupulous -- and they were alternately loved, despised, respected, and feared. The deep bond of these cultural outsiders prompted one gentile, mild rebuke in his voice, to comment that 'Yiddish was the second language of the record business

@ElectricPineapple79 I can find more information if that is not enough for you but if you still believe that the jews don't control the music industry...your fucking nuts!
@ElectricPineapple79 I see you've read the illuminati-news article too. The problem with this world is paranoia. It's high time you took a leaf out of John Lydon's book and started o make your own mind up. If every single person in this world did this then it would be a better place. We are all fed shit and reading this web page is that same thing.
@ElectricPineapple79 So many Jewish artists, but then so many non-Jewish too. It's a fact that Jews control most of American media networks and undoubtedly that will cover the music industry too. But I'm British and Britain in my opinion has outputted the best music ever as far as rock music is concerned and YES it is very hard to break into the US music industry probably due to Jewish control. Fact is as far as British music is you can sing what the fuck you like, the Sex Pistols did
@jaynies1 because my friend today is more important to see a dozen of half naked bitches on the beach that all look the same in each video ( like none of us never had a good looking girlfriend )
even sting said that world popular music was never worse than in the last decade
@jaynies1 because "artists" are too busy sampling then re-editing great older music, mashing them up with a bunch of other sounds, and overlaying crappy new "lyrics" on top. Most "artists" these days 1) don't know how to play an instrument and 2) would be lost without auto-tune. Although there is a glimmer of hope, I have listened to XMU radio (Sirius) and have a found a lot of great new bands that can actually PLAY!
This songs brings me back. I can tell Midge suffered from the depression I suffer from. You you have to shreik back at the demons and beat them down. Thanks for this song, Midge.
My husband was there the day this was filmed and has some great photos. You can find them if you look for Ultravox and Sam Maynard. He said Midge was a lovely bloke!
"How many times has it turned against you? How many times will they walk away? How many times have you let Depression win the fight?"
WOW! Am I glad I found this song again! One of THE most uplifting songs from the legendary Ultravox. This brings back so many fond memories of the early 80's.
Back in the eighties I stumbled upon the Lamant album at a used record store in Kenmore Square, Boston and surrendered myself the haunting melodies of the new romantics................
Deserved a chart peak far higher than the 27 it achieved. Far higher.
Mind you, Vienna deserved a higher peak than the number 2 it achieved. And we all know one of the tracks which prevented this from happening. So I suppose Ultravox were no strangers to Top 40 injustice....
Just seen them in Nottingham 21st April 2009 - i can assure you based on last night Midge can still hit the notes and he really let his guitar go as well.. i didnt realise how important his rock guitar skills are to the Ultravox sound. just a top gig - get in there if you can.
The Callanish Standing Stones - yes! I remember an interview with Ultravox and Midge jokingly saidd that they chose to film the video the Callanish stones and that being so remote they thought they must have discovered them! I think it was on the interview cassette tape that came with the Set Movements tour programme of 1984 :-)
Have you noticed though, Midge is wearing Ugg boots, 20+ years before they were the in thing for women. Just to show they were originally for blokes...........LOL
An Amazing song! One of the most uplifting songs to be written by Ultravox. When you have a crap day this song works wonders. Ultravox Rocks!Roll on April:@)
Hah, I just found your comment on "One Small Day". Very funny but...did you know that...recent studies suggest that wearing constrictive trousers does increase the rate of XX chromosome carrying sperm prevalency. Maybe that's why poor old Midge ended up with 4 daughters and maybe the reason I ended up with 4 daughters also was because I copied his styling in the 80's! Irrespective, a truly huge song which inspired me to visit the Callanish Standing Stones in 1989. Fantastic personal lyrics.
That's so cool you visited those stones. But Midge didn't always wear tight trousers. He was mostly poncing around in those baggy 40's style ones. This is such a great song but those jeans do distract me from this video....
Remember falks don't be haters of Midge ,John Foxx was unique but Midge baught them at least the best part of a decade ,befor the very homoginaety the generic branding of music''madona''etc...that lead to boring stuf like Franzfurdinand.
must have been freakin cold! Nice setting for UV music. Wish I could have been there. I like the red beany...and polarized glasses...but your pants are too tight mate.
Ultravox was part of the soundtrack of my senior year in high school and college days. Great songs and great memories.

@jaynies1 because my friend today is more important to see a dozen of half naked bitches on the beach that all look the same in each video ( like none of us never had a good looking girlfriend )
even sting said that world popular music was never worse than in the last decade
sonnydaytona 11 months ago
@jaynies1 because "artists" are too busy sampling then re-editing great older music, mashing them up with a bunch of other sounds, and overlaying crappy new "lyrics" on top. Most "artists" these days 1) don't know how to play an instrument and 2) would be lost without auto-tune. Although there is a glimmer of hope, I have listened to XMU radio (Sirius) and have a found a lot of great new bands that can actually PLAY!

When I'm feeling down, people upset me, always turn to this, awesome stuff, love the ending, drum beat, so on.
The good old days when videos told a story, hmm, no one ever knew what the stories were about, but, lol.
Hey, better than today, where all girls know what to do is be exploited by selling videos based on how much skin they can get away with showing.
So cheers for this.

A video pre-echo... cooler than liquid helium.
What a wonderful concept!!!
Great song with a much greater idea!
Ultravox. Midge Ure is great, he really filled John Foxx's boots. Although there will NEVER be another John Foxx (Dennis Leigh)...
And they could not have picked a more perfect site on the planet!!!

Thanks for this video!!

One day where I didn't die a thousand times
Where I could satisfy this life of mine
One small day
One day where every hour could be a joy to me
And live a life the way it's meant to be
One small day
Great One!

Looks like this was made at Callanish. Is that right?
taff1976 2 years ago
The Callanish Standing Stones - yes! I remember an interview with Ultravox and Midge jokingly saidd that they chose to film the video the Callanish stones and that being so remote they thought they must have discovered them! I think it was on the interview cassette tape that came with the Set Movements tour programme of 1984 :-)

I cannot wait to see them live, as I never managed to see them back in the 80s.

I saw them several times during the 80's and again on Tuesday this week in Manchester, absolutely fantastic, enjoy.

Such a different look from the earlier years.. Loved the 1940 look better than the scruffier image of "Lament"

Ultravox has a plethora of looks and styles through the years. I loved that! But their music has always remained solid! Love them!!

14th in Manchester, can't wait!
Have you noticed though, Midge is wearing Ugg boots, 20+ years before they were the in thing for women. Just to show they were originally for blokes...........LOL

It's a wonder Midge could have children after wearing those jeans!
furseal2004 3 years ago
Hah, I just found your comment on "One Small Day". Very funny but...did you know that...recent studies suggest that wearing constrictive trousers does increase the rate of XX chromosome carrying sperm prevalency. Maybe that's why poor old Midge ended up with 4 daughters and maybe the reason I ended up with 4 daughters also was because I copied his styling in the 80's! Irrespective, a truly huge song which inspired me to visit the Callanish Standing Stones in 1989. Fantastic personal lyrics.
brj1966 3 years ago 2
That's so cool you visited those stones. But Midge didn't always wear tight trousers. He was mostly poncing around in those baggy 40's style ones. This is such a great song but those jeans do distract me from this video....
furseal2004 3 years ago 3
Now that they are going to tour in 2009 this song should be re-released to publicise the up coming tour.
The lyrics are so meaningful at the moment with all the doom and gloom of the credit crunch!
Very under rated song!!!!
darhar 3 years ago
Remember falks don't be haters of Midge ,John Foxx was unique but Midge baught them at least the best part of a decade ,befor the very homoginaety the generic branding of music''madona''etc...that lead to boring stuf like Franzfurdinand.
larzhendrixson 3 years ago
John Foxx had his day in Ultravox and left when he was ready. Midge then joined and help turn it into a great commercial success!

What the hell are you talking about?? What does Franz Ferdinand have to do with Madonna? Or Ultravox for that matter?
