I've never been out of work. Here's why... I'm in the business/IT field. I buy fleets of business and technical books. I work until midnight most nights and often weekend. HR people are the dumbiest people in a corporation or business and their critical reasonong and analytical skills suck greatly!!!! Not to be funny but they have a job. Great analogy on the president position, because Bush is a great example of not being qualified to run a country.

Granted, It's an easy mistake since; Ronald Regan got re-elcted,George Bush got re-elected, Clinton got re-elected, and George W. It is kind of funny how they (The media and all of the other misinformed morons) talk about re-training as the key to re-employment. I have worked as a scientist for the past 20 years and have been unable to obtain gainful employment for the past 9 months. Let's face it, the country is just fucked. It does not matter what your skill or your level of desire to work. I have applied to over 1000 jobs and have come up empty. Something else is afoot.

I'm 23 years old, fresh out of college, and I'm breaking into a field similar to yours. I interned for 8 months after college (was paid per project), and I work part-time @ bath and body works. I feel you Ann!! I know so many of us are in the same boat, so I will be keeping all of us including myself in pray... I've owned my own business and I was told that I still have to start at the bottom of a company which totally negates my knowing how to run a business. I've excelled on every job I've had to the point where customers think I own the business!! I live in LA too and it is hard!!! But I am determine to fulfill my life's purpose NO MATTER WHAT! I really hope Ann Gunder gets a job. I've heard that , they've got a machine that picks out key words and your resume isn't "read" by a real person unless the software picks out your resume based on key words. "What Color.... Parachute" book says, most people don't get jobs on-line or through the HR departments. You gotta do the networking thing to get past those two pitfalls. I need a job too, but right now, I'm suffering from something even worse than unemployment, ....Discouragement.
