Was Rifleman the QB's real name? or because he had a rifle for an arm? gotta love Hollywood and the things they come up with. Also the hockey movie SLAP SHOT was filmed in Johnstown, Pa.
@supernovaxlovexo hey man, my Dad's from Johnstown, Pa. i live in Toronto. He went to Westmont hilltoppers high...is that even still around? his rival was Ferndale.
@quincee33 Yupp! It sure is. Westmont is still around, their just CALLED the Westmont Hilltoppers, because their on the upper part of the hill (where the Inclined Plane is). Ferndale is still around too. Nothing's really changed here.... nothing at all. We just lost a lot of businesses and work.
Probably wasn't one of Tom Cruise's best films no, but it was certainly good starting point, on the road to stardom.I'll always have soft spot for this film though.
@ThaFranchize33 Minority Report was my favorite. The firm is solid as well. The fact that you threw Cocktail in there which is one of the worst movies in history blows your credibility though.
now I know where all these 80's losers got the idea to tape their necklaces to their chests during a game-I think most of them only had the necklace so they could tape it. How stupid. It like all these kids today with dreadlocks and underarmor. no originality.
lol stop hating. The fact that you remember the 80s probably mean ur a beatdown bitter old man who USED to play high school football. First of all, dreadlocks are just hair. Got nothing to do w/ football so u shouldnt even hate on dudes who choose to wear them. Secondly, underarmor works. You probably dont know b/c u never had it back in ur day but take it from an ex player of THIS generation. They work. Its like sayin "theres no originality, everyone's usin facemasks. i use to go raw." wtf?
hahah my civics teacher is in this movie!! no lie!!! he is the one with the big 80s hair on the football team! they filmed this all over johnstown and they used the school football uniforms and the westmont marching band was in it!!!!!!!!!
He lies about his height. He says in the movie " there's no place for a 5"10(1.7720-1.79cm) white defensive back in the NFL but Tom Cruise is only 5"7(1.70cm) in real life. I thought it was unrealistic unless he was wearing really high shoe lifts. He looks 5"6-5"7 range but i guess movies are not that real anyways.
I'm from Johnstown. Teh house trashed in one of the scenes is down by the Arbutus Church of the Brethern. I grew up some just 20-30 feet from there. :D
can someone tell me where can i find the pictures of this movie ? tome cruise's picture ( only this movie ) cuz i want to cut my hair like this one ......thanks
I don't know who JOE is but I was in this movie and lived in the town (Johnstown, PA) I have credits at the end of the movie.. maiden name was Zabala...

Tom is best as these kind of 'rude' young kids - Few good men, rayman etc.

Speaking of Rifleman, if you think about it, this movie was ahead of its time in terms of a black quarterback in western PA.

quincee33 5 months ago
@quincee33 I honestly don't know. I'm only 18. I still live in Johnstown. Am I considered retired? LOL

What nationality is Tom Cruise's character?
oldschoolcanadianrap 1 year ago
@oldschoolcanadianrap Djordjevich is a Serbian surname. The name ("Stefen") closely is a little off (it should be "StefAn") but also seems Serbian.
Great movie.

Sly Stallone always looked big/tall in the Rocky movies.....he's what...5'6?
Dummerd 2 years ago
Sly is 5"9 which is about avg but he looks tall like 6"0(183cm) cos he wears huge lifts that give him like 8-10cm.
