Abortion is an issue only because our society has abandoned Gods Word. God would rather nip this problem in the bud before any abortion could take place. Deuteronomy 22:13-21 says if a man marries a girl and finds her not to be a virgin, then she is to be stoned to death. Notice the girl is to be killed without a concern of whether she might be pregnant. God doesnt want that selfish man stuck raising a baby which wasnt his! The bible god's answer is to kill both the girl and the baby
For me the choice is very clear. The Republican party can either try to disentangle themselves from the Evangelical Christians or face extinction. They have championed their doctrine of hate and divisiveness for far too long and people are getting pretty fed up with it. They need to get back to the basics: responsible spending, small government, respect for the constitution and personal privacy, prudent use of the military. If they started doing that again, I might consider voting for them.
because the republican party has tried to repress the right of too many minority groups, most people other than those who bury their heads in the sand, are the among a minority group that this party has chosen to dsicriminate against. Who will be left to vote for them? The righteous few? That's the problem with divisive politics, you end up alienating the very people whose votes you seek. Yep, don't shit where you eat
Since 9/11 Americans have learned more about our right to privacy than at any other time in the history of the U.S. The GOP needs to drop their "sanctity of life and [male-female] marriage" concerns. Those two issues are violations of our constitutional right to privacy. The GOP must not waste its time anymore trying to limit the rights of women and those they clearly don't understand.
tainaatheist1: if by "rights of women" you are referring to the legal right of abortion, it is my belief that women have no right in this manner, as their bodies belong to God, their creator and, as such, they must follow Gods law by bringing a pregnancy to full term (with the exception of medical reasons to the contrary).
Kiss my ass. If you think that an aspirin-sized ball of undifferentiated cells should have all the rights of a human, you are living in a fucking fantasy world. This "God's Law" you are referring to comes from a time where life was short and brutal and rampant procreation was necessary to preserve the survival of our species. In case you haven't noticed, today we have the exact opposite problem. Someone else's abortion is none of your business, so get off your moral high horse.
By the way anyone watching this, if you haven't seen the movie "The Golden Compass", it basically relates to all this GOP, religious-right bullshit. Also, more importantly, you should Google Video, "How Jesus Became Christ" part 1 & 2. It's 3 hours, but its more interesting than most documentaries on the subject. Did you know there are actually scrolls that were written 2 or 3 years after the crucifixion about a man named Jesus? Well, it seems there are, but the Catholics denounced them...
These people just don't get it. People are not interested in parties. The one's who are, say they are republicans. John McCain lost because it was a choice between good and evil. Its like these people were watching a movie and just couldn't grasp who was the hero and was the villain.
i agree--it shouldn't be an issue of party, although the two sometimes can learn from each other. in the case of this election, i believe one had a financial advantage over the other which apparently is of the utmost importance today, unfortunately. there must be quality over quantity, if you will.
He talks about the gay marriage bans and forget both the places where abortion Bans were shot down. 2 for 2 in South Dakota and we hope it dies there.
If those Christians want to force *their* morals on *our* government, the government should tax every church for every dime they're worth! Get rid of their idiocy and bigotry for good.

i was simply stating my interpretation on the subject, which is the very purpose of this forum, with the operative word in my post being "opinion".

The Republicans are all over. They rely heavily on the religious right that, quite frankly, the world are sick to death of.

The only real republican left is Ron Paul. These divisive issues are a large part of what has caused their decline.

How are attacks on people's right to marry a defense of the sanctity of marriage?
The only thing lending any coherence to the Republicans' ideology is the consistency of their hate.
