  • @neptuniumforest i guess they are similar they told me sursromming smells worse:)

  • @neptuniumforest no, actually, it's not. Rakfisk is closer to surströmming - which is herring putrefied in a can

  • You are supposed to boil it! and eat it with potatoes and whitesauce with mustard...

  • @Abhraxxas i think i would lke it more with potatoes! and mustard

  • @crazaysara86 i actualy did! you can find it in my uploads. it was not good!!!

  • Bleh. I cringed when I saw you poking the thing on the plate. I don't know how you can be so brave and stomach some of these foods! But. Ahaha, Remy as a viking is definitely adorable. :)

  • @himafu lol! thank you!! my mom gagged when she watched it later she said she was glad she wasnt there to see it!!

  • Have you ever watched globe trekker? There was an episode where the host, named ian wright, visited Eskimos. There, they gave him something to eat which was utterly disgusting. It was seal excrement(crap) mixed with seal oil.Look it up if you don't believe me.Google the words "seal excrement globe trekker", but without the quotations. You'll see I'm not lying.

  • @7k7p1mnm that is soooo crazy! i looked for it and i watched it and i sat wi th my mouth open:) lol!!! i never saw that show before but it is awesome!!

  • That's interesting?! Is that eaten just like that, plain and simple?

You should also try the dish called DINUGUAN (pork blood stew) - it's a savory stew of blood and meat in a rich, spicy dark gravy of pig blood, garlic, chili and vinegar. (",)

  • @zor0825 ok that is on my list now that sound awesome!!

  • nooooooooooo D:

  • @ScarletMai lol!

  • O_O ISNT IT DANGEROUS TO EAT THAT? What if there' still oxins inside? Seems pretty unsafe to me....No offense to vikings of course.

  • @RandomMikayla good point i gues s i figure if it is cooked long enough it may be safe? maybe!!

  • When I had only half scrolled up the page I thought it said, "Remy eats Lipstick". Lutefisk makes FAR more sense.

  • @BDDuran lol! i bet lipstick taste better though:D

  • @FoodOddities I would agree! Keep the videos coming... they're AWESOME!

  • @BDDuran thank you! very much! i will

  • Does you mom watch these videos? If she does than you better be prepared for a grounding xD

  • @RisEndShineMrFreeMan lol! good point:) my mom does watch them but she could tell as soon as she walked int the house we burned incence and candles and stuff but it coudnt hide it. but my dad took the blame and she was pretty cool about it in the end:D

  • I have to say I'm struggling to see the point of this one. Why would anyone go to all that trouble to make something that tastes exactly like fish, but looks, feels and smells a lot worse? If it had a different taste I could understand it (even if that different taste were gross, like Hákarl), but it doesn't, so I don't...

  • @imbethondion lol! i actualy wonder if maybe vikings lost thier teeth easily so they needed to make food into jelly?! i dont get it either!!

  • As a true Swedish Viking, i must say, that looks disgusting...

  • @zeus930417 lol! i will have to agree with the real viking!!

  • You are a brave soul remy

  • @danlk14 thank you! only brave enough to eat 2 bites though:)

  • I bet it didn't taste as bad as the hakarl, but the texture certainly looks

    disgustingly slimy.

  • @harmgb1 you are right@! at least it didnt taste like an outhouse like the hakarl!

  • So you finally got to the Lutefisk.....

My maternal grandfather was Norwegian, and my maternal grandmother

was Dutch. At the first Christmas of their married life, Grandma asked

Grandfather if he'd like the traditional Christmas lutefisk. My Grandfather,

proud Norwegian though he was, replied "Thank you for asking, dear,

but I think I'll just skip it this year...." LoL

So that is why, that many years later, lutefisk is NOT one of the strange foods

    I've tried.

    I'm very impressed though.

  • @harmgb1 lol! your grandpa was a smart one!! i bet if i mixed cod into jello it would taste just the same

  • yay new vid from remy!!

  • @ixxalovezyou thanks! it took awhile so we made it a long one:)

  • Did you finish it?

  • @norxcontacts i feel bad but no. my dad ate some big bites and dindt look happy and i ate 2 bites but no one else would try it and my mom was gone. and it smelled terrible so i had to take it outside:(

  • Ooo swedish food! :) invented in my city too!

  • @Xataret is that right? what city?

  • @FoodOddities Linköping :)

  • @Xataret i dindt find that in my research:( next thing i eat like that im asking you for the info first!!

  • @FoodOddities haha, sure thing. Would be happy to help.

  • @Xataret perfect thanks!!

  • I tasted lutefisk. it was ok. maybe a little bit bland.

  • @kido23 yes!i even thought if it had salt in it. or garlic it would be okay. or at least better.

  • i think that lutefisk was made here in minnesota i think just about all the lutefisk in the u.s. and is made here in minnesota thank for the cool vid bro keep them coming

  • @jayez2007 thank you! i think you may be right minesota is the king of lutefisk in america i think.

  • yymm i love lutefisk i ve been eating it all my life

  • @jayez2007 really?maybe if i started when i was realy little i would love it now.

  • I have Viking heritage as well, but I'm not really inclined to try this stuff. :P

Plus, if you mess it up... you might not get a second chance!

  • @SKoGoMoney lol! i think you have the right idea:D

  • My uncle eats this every Christmas. Like candy. /shudder

  • @SillyLitleGirl lol! like unsweet, fishy, slimy candy:)

  • "Its a grape jelly, but no grape, but fish." I can see you don't like it, but you handled it well.

  • @zhaneranger lol! thank you!! when i eat the second bit i cant hide it:D

  • Best Episode EVER!!!!!!!

  • My 2 favorite things on your videos: The joke , and you eating gross stuff xD

  • @RisEndShineMrFreeMan thank you:)

  • hey, try a fish fried with rice and kimchi

  • @hipie63 oo that sounds good!

  • Even I'm norwegian and I don't eat that. That's just nasty lol XD

  • @iJuHachi i feel better hearing that!

  • You are amazing xD

I'm Norwegian and I can't even stomach the stuff..... but it was there at every single Christmas dinner and my grandparents gobbled it down like candy.... I wonder if I will grow a strange fondness for it to. Only time will tell I guess :P

  • @lunarheart14 thank you! that is funny isnt it they older people like it but we all think it is crazy!

  • LOL! Remy-Thor!

I've always thought of Lutefisk as the queen of all odd-disgusting foods! The description has always made me sure I could never even consider trying it! Growing up I wasn't big on seafood & I'm still picky there- nothing too fishy for me! But the texture is something I'm sure would make me throw up before it could make it down my throat!

    :P

    Great video Remy!

  • @RogCBrand ...Thormy? Remthor?

  • @SillyLitleGirl ok i laughed hard at thormy:D

  • @SillyLitleGirl LOL!

  • @RogCBrand thanks roger! the texture was the worst sooo bad but at least i got to dress up lke thor!

  • @FoodOddities Yeah! I definitely love when you do things like that! It would still be cool just to see your reactions to trying odd foods, but all the extra work you guys put into the videos makes them extra special! Any time I see you've got a new video up, I'm really happy!

    :D

Oh! The sun just came out and it's over 50 degrees!!! It rained 29 of the 31 days of March for us, which is a lot even for Oregon! I hope you guys are getting some nice Spring weather there!

  • I had to laugh at the thor reference ^_^

  • @ChakraFlow1990 i finally got a chance to dress up in a sweet costume:D

  • "No grape... but fish" Lol! remy youre awesome!

  • @TheBellaTenenbaum lol! thank you! i had to think what woud the worst thing to open a jar and find? fish jelly! ugg!!

  • hahahaha lol "if you are going to have a problem with texture..you arent going to want ot eat this" aka. in translation.."dont eat it"

lol yeah for another video. where have you been?

  • @funkyflyswim i got really busy but spring break means i coud do a big episode!
