  • omg i had NO idea they'd made a video out of this! I had the little paperback picture book when i was little! and all the characters were drawn the same way! i had all the fairytales too! there was this one, and cinderella, and snow white, and even more!

  • foolish prince so foolish

  • Well that's a....random ending lol XD

  • are you kidding me?! this bitch Elizabeth took the credit for it!!!!????!!!!!

  • wow shes naked?

  • This is what we'll do: send daughters out see "outside world when she's about 13. That's a good idea. Girls, there are many ways you can make a guy dig you without speaking. Intelligent girls get a pass. Remember, suicide is painless and nonconsequencial

  • It's no wonder I prefer these fairy tale Animes:

    Swan Lake

    Thw Wild Swans

    and Puss 'n' Boots

  • Why do these all have such crappy endings? -__-

    Oh Disney, I love you.

  • @twirdakamickixoxo This is just a meh version. The true version, the Hans Christian Anderson version, is closest to the true story and I think is the best. Disney's The Little Mermaid is satisfying in the fact that the protagonist ends happily and the villain gets owned, but I don't like it because it's way too fluffy and suggests that you can makes risky deals with bad people and it can/will end well. Not the greatest moral to teach kids.

  • @MermaidAiera No, I don't like the real ending either. It's really cheesy and the prince is just way too stupid to be likeable. I like the Disney version because it's cute, happy, and even though it has a happy ending, it's not completely cheesy and cliche, either (though some people might think otherwise)

And most Disney movies don't have morals XP they're just there for entertainment, really. You can pretty much twist around any Disney movie to make it bad for children.

  • @twirdakamickixoxo I guess it could go either way depending on how you look at it. It really doesn't matter though. I figured I'd throw my 2 cents in XD

  • @MermaidAiera Hahaha yeah, I guess XD

  • i hate this version. i love the disney version!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ALLnatural1996 she died and gained a human soul so she could go to heaven.

  • the witch looks like Peg of Love and Marrage lol

  • Did she die and go to haven or was she just saved

  • You know this will never happen in real life... I MEAN COME ON how can anyone still sleep though all that back ground music!!!

  • do they like...not have a pen and paper?

  • @lilmissnever Oh my gosh I KNOW RIGHT dumbass but she wouldnt know how to use a pen and write on paper....O.O

  • @annylalaa in the disney verison he teches her human things; like a fork is for eating etc. And in the fairy tale aparantly she knows what a knife is.

  • Yeah the Hans Christian Verison is way better, she dies and turns to foam but its not that love is shit its about loving someone so much that their happiness is urs.

  • O.o This ending is a bit fishy.

  • No one else has ever mentioned how odd it is that the bride and groom are sleeping in separate beds on their wedding night.

  • @AlmostWorthless actually, way back when, it was common for man and wife to sleep in separate beds. The only time they shared a bed was when they were trying for an heir, but even after the deed was done, they never slept in the same bed.

  • @AlmostWorthless correction: I should say that royal couples never shared a bed. peasants did, but the royalty, and I think the elite, never shared beds with their spouses.

  • @AlmostWorthless Back then it wasn't appropriate in movies and tv (even animated) for a man and a woman to be seen in the same bed, even though they are married. Just like they never used to curse until The Big Trail, a John Wayne movie in 1930, came out and they were the first to use curse words. Gone with the Wind soon followed in 1939 and then they cursed, it was more popular so this movie really started the whole cursing trend.

  • 3:04. Purple haired mermaid....has no shirt??? why?

  • NO NO NO! SHE TURNS TO FOAM ON THE OCEAN - THE LITTLE MERMAID DIES A DREADFULL DEATH SAD AND ALONE! GEEZ! HAVEN'T THESE PEOPLE READ THE HC ANDERSEN VERSION? - THE POINT OF THIS STORY IS THAT LOVE IS SHIT! - It's a tradgedy really... seriously!

  • @celinesofie I prefer happy endings :)

  • @fancynancypigs1 No but it's a tragedy! It's like making Romeo and Juliet survive and live happily ever after! It's not what the author wanted with it - Because it's based on his experiences with love - And HC Andersen died sad and alone! - Cause that's just what life is like sometimes! Just like Mufassa and Bambies mother have to die! It's hardcore, but it is an inevitable part of life.

  • @celinesofie erm...yeah..I guess ;___; I just like to pretend it's not like that ^^; thx for the reply :)

  • @celinesofie No Anderson actually changed the ending to be that she is able to gain a soul while looking out for children or something like that. It's on Wikipedia and other sites

  • "For she loved him more than her own life" pretty much sums up the whole story.

  • WHO MADE THIS? hahaha i am so mad that i cant find this stinking old vhs......

  • i used to own a VHS that had a film after the little mermaid one played. the second film had a princess who had to weave baskets in order to be humbled. how can i find that video???? THATS the one i want! i liked this version as a kid because the narrator's voice and the prince was cute when i was 7 hahaha

  • @audreyedmiston Oh my gosh, my cousin has that EXACT SAME tape! It's called "King Grizzlebeard." I love that story too, but this version of Little Mermaid was hard to find--and since it was my intro to the real story, I have a soft spot for it.

  • @audreyedmiston It's here! Check my page

  • That was my favorite too! It's called King Grizzle Beard. I loved the part at the end when she went to the palace to help out for the banquet, and well, you know what happened!!

  • This is almost a happy ending, others are really sad...

  • OMFG ive been searchin 4dis version 4so long....i had dis whs aggggggggeeesssssssss ago Thanx SO MUCH

  • meet my wife - say WHAT?

  • One of her sisters is an exhibitionist! LOL

  • 3:04 purple haired girl needs a bra..other then that i love this movi(very short movie)

  • Wow, well... I can understand why the ending sucks from a Japanese point of view. In the original story, she jumps into the sea and turns to foam by dawn, which is as the sea witch forewarned would happen the morning after her lover marries another. The words for "foam" and "bubble" are kind of ambiguous in Japanese, which doesn't really differentiate singular or plural. 泡(awa), the word for foam, could be one bubble of foam or lots of bubbles.

  • Look little mermaid's hand at 2:36

  • @pecahalloween whats wrong with her hand?

  • *Another correction. This isn't the Toei version either. It is a little known version called "The Little Mermaid and Friends". I have been unable to find what anime company made it. The Toei anime also has the problem of topless mermaids (not sure how the main mermaid looks in human form, but she is topless in mermaid form). Indeed the Toei version is the one someone will first think of when you say "The Little Mermaid anime", NOT the one in this video.

  • I gotta ask though about a certain inconsistency. Why does the main character in mermaid form have to be topless (naked in human form) for like the first half of the anime, but the 4 of the 5 mermaids at 3:05 get to have clothes? And why does 1 of the 5 mermaids here still have to go topless?

  • So it leaves me still crying out:

NO, MY CHILDHOOD!!!!!!! LOOK WHAT THE WRITER OF THIS ANIME HAS DONE TO MY CHILDHOOD! I BLAME HIM (OR HER)! MANY CHILDHOOD MEMORIES HAVE BEEN SOMEWHAT RUINED BY THE RULE34 WEBSITE BUT NONE TO THE DEGREE THAT THIS ACTUAL STUDIO PRODUCED ANIME HAS DONE!!!!!!!!! IT HAS STOMPED AND DESECRATED MY CHILDHOOD!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Now this fact does alleviate some of the childhood-ruining rule34 effect caused by this anime version of The Little Mermaid. But sadly that alleviation is somewhat countered also by the fact that when you say "Little Mermaid anime" it's THIS ONE that most people remember, and NOT the Saban one which does NOT have her either topless or naked in either mermaid or human form, but rather she is clothed with swimwear (mermaid form) which has MORE coverage than a bikini even, or a dress (human form) .

  • *Another correction

I previously stated Toei made both the Peter Pan and Little Mermaid animes. Actually as it turns out Nippon Animation made the Peter Pan anime. So indeed they ARE 2 different companies, and indeed do seem to handle mermaids in 2 different ways. And it makes sense in a way how Toei handles it, after all, they are the ones who made Sailor Moon, and the Sailor Scouts in that, ESPECIALLY in later episodes and later seasons ARE shown nude in certain power-up and attack scenes.

  • BenHutchinson1 has a suspended account for copyright violation due to an AMV I posted. I am now using an alternate account.

  • NOOO, MY CHILDHOOD!!!!!!! MANY CHILDHOOD MEMORIES HAVE BEEN RUINED VIA THE RULE34 WEBSITE BUT NOT TO THE DEGREE THAT THIS ACTUAL STUDIO PRODUCED ANIME HAS DONE!!!!!!!!! IT HAS STOMPED, DESTROYED, DESECRATED, AND SLAUGHTERED MY CHILDHOOD!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • *Correction to a previous post. There is ONE other official anime of The Little Mermaid. It is the Saban version, called "Adventures of the Little Mermaid". It DOES feature her in swimwear that is actually MORE covering than standard bikinis that mermaids are usually shown to wear.

However that only SLIGHTLY alleviates that problem of this particular anime ruining my childhood. Because as I said before ...

  • This whole thing makes me want to scream:

NOOO, MY CHILDHOOD!!!!!!! MANY CHILDHOOD MEMORIES HAVE BEEN RUINED VIA THE RULE34 WEBSITE BUT NOT TO THE DEGREE THIS OFFICIAL ANIME HAS DONE!!!!!!!!! IT HAS STOMPED, DESTROYED, DESECRATED, AND SLAUGHTERED MY CHILDHOOD!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The unexpectedness of the appearance of this kind of content here makes it hit EXTRA hard, and ruin my childhood A MILLION times as much as if I'd seen it on the rule34 website.

And let me add that the VERY SAD fact is there s ABSOLUTELY NO OTHER ANIME VERSION of The Little Mermaid. There are AT LEAST TWO western cartoon versions of this story though. There is the Disney version and the Reader's Digest version and maybe others.

  • And given that rule34 website is not meant for little kids, but The Little Mermaid story in both Disney and anime forms were SUPPOSED to be for little kids, it comes COMPLETELY UNEXPECTEDLY to see a rule34 version of The Little Mermaid in the anime version, the OFFICIAL anime version at that. So it comes COMPLETELY unexpectedly to see THAT kind of content in this supposedly (but apparently not actually) little kids anime.

  • So they decided to back down on it being a rule34 of The Little mermaid, but due to lack of funding I guess couldn't complete the job so the it still remains a childhood-ruining rule34 of that classic. Now it wouldn't be nearly childhood-ruining if it was on the rule34 website because none of those are official anything, just "fan" art (not sure if fans or haters given what they draw). But this is THE OFFICIAL ANIME VERSION of The Little Mermaid, making it hit MUCH harder.

  • I mean everyone knows what's covered by those LAME censoring attempts. Really the only way to make people forget what's behind those lame censoring attempts is NOT censor her, but to clothe her, so as to change OFFICIALLY what she's actually supposed to be wearing, so she IS wearing something. When that's don't it then and ONLY then becomes truly appropriate for kids. Otherwise it is AT THE VERY LEAST a PG-13 movie.

  • But they ultimately failed EPICALLY at un-rule34ing it. They forgot a VERY inmportant part. They forgot to draw a seashell bikini top on her and in human form also forgot to draw a seashell bikini bottom on her. So what if the hair "happens" (of course everyone knows it's drawn like this on purpose) to fall in just the right spot or she is turned so all you see are her legs, or is drawn nipplless (a lame, unrealistic and least censored, form of censoring, to the point I call it still uncensored)

  • Now back to the main point I was making. I believe the blatant mismatch between the mermaid's level of clothing and the prince's actions suggests a dumbing down of the ORIGINAL plan. Remember I called this a rule34? Well I believe it was originally supposed to be a MUCH STRONGER rule34 than it was. But then they decided to make it for kids so as to not ruin kids' childhoods. So they back down on their plan and make the prince NOT force himself on the mermaid.

  • (I meant since any given anime company tends to use one style of character design between different animes that they make for which said animes are aimed at the same age group, but might be different for different animes they make that are aimed at different age groups. Though Peter Pan and the Little Mermaid are BOTH aimed at the same age group, little kids)

  • That makes it SO unrealistic, that it is EXTREMELY LAME!!!! How to correct this ridiculous level of UNREALISM would be to make it so she's wearing a bikini top and bottom in human form, and bikini top in mermaid form, even if said bikini is only made from sea shells (which is what they did in the Peter Pan anime, which I believe was actually made by the same company, and since both are supposed to target the same age group, and companies tend to use one style of character design, it seems off).

  • The human brain is capable of causing a person to use self control, but that level of self control required to completely avoid doing a nasty thing under these EXACT circumstances is NOT something the human brain is capable of. It would in reality be PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE for him to exert enough self control to avoid doing something really bad here. And even more, he doesn't even seem to be fighting back any urges at all! It's like he has in INFINITE level of self control! But that's IMPOSSIBLE

  • Oh, and I forgot this. The prince guy is out there on an apparently abandoned sea shore, and sees her quite nude, and does NOT jump down and do nasty things to her. What? That's COMPLETELY unrealistic (wish it was realistic cause I don't condone rape). And here's why it's so unrealistic. In those exact circumstances he finds himself in it would be IMPOSSIBLE to resist the urge to do that exact thing.

  • Wow, nude mermaid. WTH! Thanks to the Japanese artist for RUINING my childhood! I've seen the Disney version with the sea-shell bikini top, and that was part of my childhood. Now thanks to this anime artist for producing a RULE34 of that and COMPLETELY RUINING MY CHILDHOOD!!!!!!!!!! Even worse, because it didn't directly take stuff from the Disney version it was PERFECTLY LEGAL for this anime to be made as there was NO copyright infringement (unlike a website which shall remain nameless).

  • I expect this kind of crap from rule34 on pa*e*l but from a REAL ANIME STUDIO! I mean seriously!!! Thanks to this artist for completely smashing and desecrating some very nice childhood memories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The reason I'm asking if it's the adult version of the Little Mermaid in my other post by the way is this. Toei made Peter Pan no Bouken (as part of World Masterpiece Theater, which IS for kids) and those mermaids were wearing sea-shell bikini top. And this which I thought was also from World Masterpiece Theater (but maybe I'm mistaken) but IS for sure from Toei, for some reason does NOT have her wearing a sea-shell bikini top as a mermaid, or ANYTHING AT ALL as a human initially.

  • And I was wondering if there was a KIDS version version of this which has the mermaid wearing something both in mermaid form and human form initially when she wasn't wearing anything in the version seen here.

  • at 1:36

Now she's wearing a dress? I mean it's obvious he gave her something to wear for the sake of dencency and that makes sense. But he's royalty (she is technically too, but he couldn't know that) and to just give some random young woman he meets at the shore some clothes most likely from the closet of ROYALTY is also VERY unrealistic. Again that makes it VERY lame.

  • 1:04 WTH! She's naked and this is a KIDS SHOW!? Or is this the "Adult" version?

And even mor LOLWUT, is the fact she wakes up human, and without fins (that did NOT morph into pants) I thought she would have been shocked and ran and hid behind a rock or something out of embarrassment, but she just sits there like EVERYTHING IS OK! I mean that is VERY unrealistic (even more unrealistic than a mermaid existing in the first place, as theoretically such COULD exist but doesn't) and VERY LAME!

  • soooo........she turns into the sun? i dont get this! XD

  • i almost everyone of the little mermaid when she is washed on land she is naked

  • 3:04 nudist?

  • This is actually closer to the original "Little Mermaid" by Hans Christensen than the Disney's version. Although, in the end she would become sea foams.

  • Kinda corny

  • What ? I actually thought that she would get back on land. But, I guess she went to heaven instead -_____-"

  • LMAO XDD

  • what a bad ending...

  • it would be nice if one time she does kill him
