lol whats with your exposure and shutter speed? It looks like you just unpackaged it and turned it on without fixing it to make it look more gloriously awesome.
@siddiqui16 I guess I was a little fidgety. I had just unboxed it and was eager to try the video function. I guess this makes it a decent sample of what it would be like to be caught without a tripod while panning across a screen.
The video has turned out ok, check out the option below the video to change resolution! The video mode seems to work best when the camera is held still. To be honest, I prefer the camcorder for "proper" vids, but it's ok for occasional filming, same as with a good compact digicam.
@gunznmotorchick I have to admit that the only reason I got it was because I was upgrading from my D40 and I thought the video feature would be cool and for what I paid for it, I can't complain. I have to agree with the general consensus that if you want to shoot good video, go with a camera that is meant only for video. Having the video feature on a DSLR is only handy if you're out shooting stills and you come across something you want to film.
@azbor1cua hello how to change the VGA resolution to HD??? and whenever i make videos after almost 1 min it say terminating video why is that ??is my camera D5000 faulty or what?? thanks for your help...
I think it's smarter to use the features that come with something to save money so that you don't have to buy some MP3 or a Camcorder. Not everyone has parents to buy them things.
I'm not trying to start a flame-war, so please save the embarrassment.
yea, it's the same price. and at this time the T1i is cheaper then the D5000 in some non-USA countries. For example the T1i cheaper then the D5000 in Canada.
The XSI however was priced higher then the D60 last year. So shop around, as Nikon was best in 2008(D3X,D90)) but got owned by canon in 2009(5Dmk2, T1i)
At first look, I thought "damn, that's crappy quality!" then I noticed the sharper edges closer to the camera, in the foreground. And I realized it was the manual focus that it has in video mode :D
getting one of those this weekend, are you happy with it?
@Xaeron187 I certainly like it, though I rarely shot video with it because of the fact that you have to manual focus while you're shooting and unless you have VERY good eyes, you can't really tell if it's in focus or not just by looking at the screen.
I don't know why people keep comparing this Camera to a $3,500+ 3 CCD Video Camera, like the Canon XH A1? The quality is awful and unless you want a simple DOF video shot, but good luck keeping the moving subject in focus. The video function, as a replacement to a high end Camcorder is just plain stupid! Plus it records mono sound, oh this is cool? Then you need to record onto an external recorder, to edit with any video. Summed Up: Good in low light, good DOF simple shots and..well thats all.
WTF I CAN'T EVEN SEE THE VIDEO QUALITY!!

Now the D7000 offers some beautiful video quality, but you really have to shoot it right to get it right with any video camera

TheOfficialSabrina 1 year ago
@TheOfficialSabrina I was at the max zoom for the lens I had on it which was a Nikon 55-200 zoom lens.

@JogBird I agree. I've been looking into getting a spring arm compensated rig to use with my new camera. They're just SOOOO damn expensive.

the video mode is a plus, if you don't want it, don't use it, or just buy a Nikon D60
