What a hauntingly beautiful yet spirtual song that is so deep w/ emotion. It is so moving!!!!! No one does it like Sade!!! Truly one of her best defing songs!!! Sade is such a class act!!!!
Yes i am so in love with her music, loved her since i ws 7 yrs old and im only 21, her music will never die, Cant wait until she comes back out, Man she don't get the credit she deserves, one of the best that ever done it hands down!!!
No one sings like this except Sade. It's so beautiful. I am looking forward so much to Sade's new album at the end of 2009. I hope she will tour also.
This song is more than music.... It's poetry, each verse is a poem. There is so much emotion in the context of it, cleary an example of the true essence of Sade.
Not really. What it does is put emphasis on the stark juxtaposition between the concerns of the impoverished and the well off. Think about it! While a western woman is complaining about how her new shoes hurt her feet, a poor third world woman has much more to complain about! It's called irony!
However I disregarded the irony and implications as I listened to this song and found the lyrics to be incoherently matched with the mood of the song. But that's opinionated. The exerpt merely stood out to me the most.
She´s got´s a voice like an angel........a glass of Wine, my beatifull little beside and her voice in the ear. What could be more relaxing...!

"And it hurts like brand new shoes" does not ruin it; see the contrast, that's art

There is a stone in my heart
She lives a life she didn't choose
And it hurts like brand-new shoes

There is a woman in somalia
The sun gives her no mercy
The same sky we lay under
Burns her to the bone
Long as afternoon shaddows
It's gonna take her to get home
Each grain carefully wrapped up
Pearls for her little girl

Sade-Pearls
There is a woman in somalia
Scraping for pearls on the roadside
There's a force stronger than nature
Keeps her will alive
That's how she's dying
She's dying to survive
Don't know what she's made of
I would like to be that brave
