$8861 may be the price, [as shown on the windshield] but it looks to be more like what you'd be paying weekly for gas! xD. I've actually taken a roadtrip in one of these beasts before; it actually gave a nice ride.
seriously, this has 25 more torques then the 2.5L turbo Volvo D5 diesel engine, I was expecting like 500-550 torque from that displacement but nope haha =D
@Projective it has 425 lb ft of torque? O.o where are you getting your info from? from what i can find the D5 only has 420newton meters of torque which equates to approx 309 lb ft?
its always been cheaper for companys to have huge of amout of cui then acctually making a powerfull engine that are more advanced and less cui.. gotta love this though, insane! =D
The airbag light being on is a little concerning, to anyone complaining about the size of the motor, it's not built for racing, its built more for taking abuse from hauling loads, and these motor's along with V8 Triton's have balls. A few years ago when I still used a company truck I drove a 1999 ford f-350 with a V8 triton and it put out a lot of power, we used it for jobs where you needed the power. It doesn't get driven now unless the other trucks are broke, uses to much gas.
for everyone who doesnt know, overdrive is the highest gear in the transmission, and is used to maximize fuel economy by allowing the engine to turn at lower revolutions. If you have a 4speed transmission with O/D, O/D is the fourth and highest gear. In some cases, the highest gear in your transmission has a ratio of 1:1, which mean for every one turn of the engine you get one turn of the driveshaft, which is really high, compared to first gear, which is usually 2.45:1
@Motorfordtoyota haha. hey my mom's got an '08 escape and there is ZERO wood trim in there, and it has a nice steering wheel. xD i guess it was an awkward period for the company.
this was made back when ford had to make absurdly huge engines just to make a modest amount of power... I always thought those V10's were so pointless when you could just get a diesel and get better mpg, better torque, and it'd easily last twice as long
@92ASC The 6.8 V10 was designed as a race car engine, but it was too powerful, and picked up by the truck team. If Ford had of wanted to, they could have done anything to a small block Ford and made 350HP with just pcm tuning. They didn't' because if the emissions police(NAZIs) They didn't have much less power, and nowadays, Smog has diesels cut back so much, they get pretty-much the same economy. Diesel is also more expensive than gas,
@92ASC same thing goes to those V8s, for example the one in my crown vic. those engines are a huge waste of displacement. now even 4 and 6 cylinder engines make as much hp and torque as my cvpi and a lot more fuel efficient. My guess is that those lower-performance engines are cheaper to design and build.
This thing with a turbo diesel from Bmw or audi and it would be nice, but it still has the weight of a sherman tank.. somehow i still love this stupid thing =D
@freegamingsolutions it is MUCH bigger than the Expedition lol...the Excursion was built on the Super Duty chassis. The Expedition I think is on the F150 chassis, but even if not, it is much smaller than these beasts lol. The Expedition Max is more the size of a Suburban, these Excursions were only...slightly smaller than a Hummer H1 lol
@daredevil7442 the 2005 I drove at work got 12-15 MPG with me driving it lol.... cost @ $1.13/L for fuel it usually cost around $100-$130 to fill it from the fuel light. Very good motors....
I'm not saying the V10 is impressive, but again this is why people should do their research before making a comment. The purpose of the engine was to produce peak torque a under 3k RPM. In the case of this V10, it's suppose to push out roughly 420 ft lbs of torque at around 3k RPM.
It's not a race engine, and you can't compare it as such. It's an engine designed to accelerate a large heavy equipment which requires low end torque.
@WillTam08 the purpose of the v10 is to deliver close to diesel power without being a diesel, it's a diesel alternative for people who don't care for diesels.
@jackmitchell123 its only 6.8 liters, not a very big v10 (compared to dodges old 8.0), basically a 5.4 triton with 2 extra cylinders. this v10 here was probably a 2 valve, the 3 valve v10s made much better horsepower and torque.
@DerAdventurer you do realize Europeans use more V10 and V12 than we do right lol...You got the BMW 760, The Mercedes C-Class, The Bentley's (V10), the Rolls Royce's (V10), the Lambos (V10 & 12), the Austin Martins, the Ferrari's and I can keep going, we HAD the 6.8 Ford V10, the Dodge 8.0L V10 and now only have the Viper V10 that is built in North America, so don't say only we have them, WE HAVE ONE NOW llololololol
@strumem90 Yes I got it. I believe I did not express myself well in a way to make clear that I meant you would rarely find a 2001 Titanic V10 for sale for only USD 8,861 around here. Car prices in the USA are absolutely low, if compared to European similar ones.
@DerAdventurer Only in America huh? I seem to recall a most high end European CARS having V10 and V12 engines. This is a truck with the idea of pulling heavy loads in mind, not a sports car that is worth nothing more than looking pretty and wasting fuel.
@DerAdventurer Yeah, they don't make these anymore. We are catching up with you over there in gas prices and can't afford to fill these monsters up. There will always be a need for pickup trucks of this size but I think the oversized SUV is as good as dead.
@seany1986 Indeed. From now to future times, vehicles with low MPG will be more oftenly seen as enemies than proud machines in a way of going beyond the acceptable. However, the engine sounds good! LOL
Hey Kyle, and other guys. Could anyone of you tell me what does the overdrive mean, when kyle shows the gear lever? I'm a European and not very familiar with these trannys...
@P2nkzSB overdrive works kinda like having an extra gear/speed. when the transmission shifts into overdrive it is to keep the RPM's down while crusing thus improving the gas mileage
The V10 isn't designed for high revving, high HP. It's a single overhead cam design to produce a large quantity of torque at low RPMs. Your 290HP is probably a dual overhead cam producing a higher quantity of HP at high RPMs, but lacks the amount of torque this engine produces.
Why is it shocking that someone was going to make a comment like that, who looks at raw HP numbers and compare two things that are completely different?
@Mihebert your pretty much right...I think all were 4x4 here, I drove a 2005 for work with a V10 under the hood. We had one with a 6.0 Powerstroke and it spent more time with the hood up than on the road, that old V10 never let me down in the worst of weather, should have had more here...wish they still made them
i would never buy this SUV, its so huge with no options so its a waste of space and money. The Nissan aramada is same size with better interior and V8 engine and is way better than this.
If you don't look at the style of the wheels, they actually don't look that bad. The low profile makes the truck look newer. Anyway nice vid! I wouldn't mind having this truck if the gas prices weren't as they are now -.-
Always loved those vehicles. Thanks Kyle 👍

@92ASC The 6.8 V10 was designed as a race car engine, but it was too powerful, and picked up by the truck team. The problem with these vehicles is that so often they are driven by only one person who does not need the size nor capacity of this vehicle.

$8861 is how much money you'll spend on gas in one year. :P

Lol this thing is ridiculously huge. It looks like a hog too. I would feel like I was behind the wheel of a barge instead of an SUV.

With those revs you probably put out enough fuel to get a Toyota prius across the world or to the grocery store lol

i would never buy this SUV, its so huge with no options so its a waste of space and money.
