Beautiful clip. Classic mars light, that is Southern Pacific! I rode behind SDP45s round trip Los Angeles to Bakersfeld not long before Amtrak began and that train ended. The Conductor let me sit in the back of the rounded end observation car through Tehachapi.
@roundhouser I remember in1996 when Rio Grande was still around i saw the very same Mars headlight on a SD40T-2 in Memphis, Tennessee watching the headlight revolving around going down the track it look kinda neat at night in 1996 those 14 years since i saw the last mars headlight is now gone.
didn't know the SP engines had M5's usually that was the Trunk GTW that had them SP was more known for Nathan P3's when was this video taken, didn't know SP used SDP45's in Special Buinness train service.
Always thought SP locos came with Nathan P-3's

A lot of Sp's F-units, geeps, and most of all SDP45's came with the M5 horn.

It's because it was originally a passenger locomotive. Railroads preferred that their passenger locomotives had 5-note horns.
