i found a cat just like this one .i took him home and feed but mom was yelling at me. he was a cute cat, but he wanted to be free so i let him run around the backyard. but he's doing all right

If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take for him to get used to you and let you pet him? I just adopted a 1 y/o orange and white cat, just like yours actually, on March 11, 2011. Though he will come out from hiding underneath my bed to play, eat, etc., he seems very shy. He runs away if I make any sudden movements.

@ArmyBabs2 it can take months or even years and it all depends on the cat. Brewster used to let us hold him for 10 seconds or less. We kept trying but would let him downas soon as he wanted down or even BEFORE-to give him a sence of choice. be patient with your cat, try not to do anything that would scare him and just re-enforce LOVE to him. Our other cat who was a stray for 4 years STILL gets spooked by things and while he has come a longway, he willnever NOT be scared of some things.

What a beautiful boy! I got my cat, Boo, from a no kill shelter. He was living under a bush and winter was coming (I'm from Calgary, Canada) so a neighbour dropped him off at the shelter and we went and got him. Boo is 10 years old and he's very happy with us! Thanks for posting and keep up the good work!

Hi,

Brewster lives at home with us now. He also has two "brothers" a black and white cat and we just adopted Toby who is also posted on this site. Our shelter saves cats from "kill shelters" as well as saving them from other situations. Then they safely stay at our no-kill shelter until they find a home. We have had cats get adopted in just a few days to some cats have taken months to find a home. Two cats Majesty and Grace took over one year to get adopted but finally they found good homes!
