  • You just know the dude carrying the flag is thinking 'Please don't let me trip'

  • i always love when the Host country enters in because i love hearing the reaction by the spectators especially the ones from the host country, it almost makes me cry every time

  • With the current international politics and global antipathy toward the United States, will take some time until the U.S. can once again host the Olympic Games.

  • why does NBC always try to shorten the parade of nations?

is it because its 2 hours long or more because I watched thirdbase3's videos of the Athens 2004 Parade of Nations and it was 2 hrs long. please let me know!!!!

  • That's my guy at 5:41 The one and only Hakeem.

  • Shaquille O'Neal is the only basketball player in this clip who is still playing today!

B-ball is our team sport - except for Athens, we've won gold at b-ball at every Games since Atlanta. (Sydney, Beijing) Women's b-ball has won gold at Atlanta, Sydney, Athens and Beijing.

  • @HTownCountryFan Grant Hill still playing in the NBA, he's playing in Phoenix Suns

  • I wonna live in the U.S.

  • @mockingsilver who doesn't. Yeah i live in Atlanta. u should move.

  • Me and my family were here at the opening ceremoneys it was such pride when the Us team came down that ramp, just total chill's and goose bumps.

  • If you are an American and that crowd reaction doesn't give you goosebumps, I really don't know what would.

  • Orlando 2020!!! How awesome would that be? The marketing campaign could have roller coaster loops as the Olympic rings =)

  • Houston, Texas for 2020!!!

  • Tulsa,Oklahoma 2020, yes i'm serious.

  • may i ask how Tulsa is going to host the games? and it has no river for watersport you have to have on

  • we have a river. :) The Arkansas River. its just a joke, but the city council here is actually considering putting a bid in. i have little hope it actually happens though. :) but the US would be due for a games in 2020.

Rio 2016 or Cape Town 2016!

  • I would LOVE to see Africa get a an Olympics!

  • Im getting goosebumps just THINKING about how great the 2012 games will be! I would love to be the one to bring out the team GB as a ceremonies volunteer but i think it could be either chris hoy, becky adlington or ben ainslie who will be carrying out the flag for great britain.

  • Really hope Chicago gets it in 2016! That would be an incredible moment to cheer USA here at home.

  • Me too. I love the city of Chicago.

  • I was a junior rep for NYC2012.i was thinking an NYC olympics would have been a great experience. but they lost the bid to london, im hoping chicago gets the games so i can see that experience at the stadium. i don't care where in the US just as long as it's in the US. GO Chicago

  • I remember when the USA came over that hill, I was 7. I would like to see the games come back to the USA so I can try to be one of the people standing and cheering with all my heart for my fellow Americans when they enter the arena. For now I'll live with going over seas and being one of the voices when the Americans of those games enter.

  • If I'm sounding Natavist. you can let me know

  • The "Lost boy" from sudan is from my area! his foster parents wer eon tv..and they are american and his story is touching! the true american dream!

  • whats wrong with that u racist bastard? the usa is made up of immigrants!!! germans, italians, polish, dutch, mexican, venezulen, cuban, etc

  • Man you are so wrong for saying that. What is wrong with you. The US was built by immigrants. Screw all yall racist out there.

  • An american sport the NBA is full of foreign players. if that was the case the US Basketball Team would be made up of the 10 best NBA Players including the foreign players Like Yao Ming.

  • I'm going to skip your ridiculously stupid argument and just say that Lopez Lomong, the USA flag bearer for 2008, was ELECTED to the position. So if you want to whine to someone, whine to his peers.

    End of argument.

  • MCEProd

Every single person in the US is here because they or someone from a past generation were immigrants. You can't be truly patriotic about the US until you realize how important immigration was for the development into what we are today

  • hear hear

  • i raise my drink to that, we are not one nation but many nations.

  • @Corocco1 African Americans are not and were not immigrants so do your history before you talk about everyone in the USA! Slavery is not immigration!

  • @TheHoliday555

Actually, the very first Africans to come to America in the 1600s were free indentured servants just like many of the first white people to come to America, before they were eventually converted to outright slavery based on their race.

Besides, the circumstances of a person's immigration doesn't make them any less immigrants.

  • @KansasForever1981 a slave is not an immigrant. maybe you need to do your damn research and see the difference. the africans here, europe, and south america were not immigrants. i don't remember seeing africans checking in ellis island and getting their shots! so stfu and learn your real history. usa was made from slavery! if they aren't different, then why don't you call immigrants slaves! and why don't you call american indians immigrants. they just didn't appear in north america by air!

  • @TheHoliday555

You're right. I got my college degree in history. I have no freaking clue what I am talking about.

  • @KansasForever1981 that don't mean shit. they teach you what they want you to know. not what the real truth is! even in college. and just because you went to college does not mean you know what you are talking about. so stop being a douche bag - but i guess you can't help it.

  • @KansasForever1981 Yea, prolly from an online university lol

  • @TheHoliday555

Kansas was just saying that the first Africans to come to the Americas were free indentured servants. Not that subsequent generations of Africans weren't brought over as slaves.

Not to mention you're arguing semantics, really. The whole point he/she is trying to make is the term immigrant just refers to someone who isn't a native of the continent. In that sense even "slaves" are "immigrants"

It's called reading comprehension. Education makes a difference after all!

  • @TheHoliday555 that's complete crap, the majority of the USA never had any slaves at all, unlike Europe, which had slavery EVERYWHERE for MUCH longer than the USA ever did. And there was far more slavery in South America and the Carribean than in the USA. In fact there was more Slavery in AFRICA itself then there ever was in the USA. You're the one that needs to learn history.

  • @Corocco1 aaahhhh shut up!

  • @Corocco1 every country was built on immigration idiot. we all came from Africa originionally, so everyone in Europe and Asia and South America and Oceania is also from immigration. North America and the United States is not any different from any other continent.

  • @Corocco1 yes but this wasnt about immigration u want a story of that than why dont u join the IOC and make a nomination for an NYC games, hello ellis island, not everywhere in the US is about immigration, its about the culture made by the immigrants that came ove here due to European Tyranny.

  • That is so wrong. It was a meaningful choice that he was picked. He is a refuge from war torn Sudan. He is an American now and plays under our flag. It means a lot more than Kobe or LeBron carrying the flag (don't get me wrong, they are AMAZING too).

  • Watched this back in 1996 as this indeed gave me goosebumps!

  • You`re quit my Venezuela... =(
