wish you were my dr.. mine does not understand and they keep putting me on prilosec, zantac and nexium. i've been so tired lately :( wish i could just feel better
What are your thoughts on going cold turkey with prilosec after literally 8 years of daily use, and switching to these natural treatments? Do you think it would be best to start these natural remedies and then stop the prilosec, or would you just go for it and see how you feel?
@Mix3dMartialArtz I'm the producer of the video. The best thing to do is to see a naturopathic doctor and get a full diagnosis and treatment plan. Once that is done, it is very likely you'll no longer need meds.
@LarryCook333 - oh ok thanks. ill look to see if there are any of those type of Dr's in my area. Great video though, very helpful for someone like me.
@LarryCook333 Hey LarryCook333 Im 16 and been struggling with acid reflux since I was 12. I don't know what triggered it and I have a feeling it might be from my anxiety disorder but Im not sure if anxiety can cause GERD. I noticed when I eat gluten products it makes it worse. I went Gluten free and it helped a little but I still got it so the apple cider vinger which helped but not all the time. The doctor put me on Prevacid but I dont believe drugs cas I have to much anxiety about side effects
@LarryCook333 Thanks! :) I'll try it but did you ever hear of aloe vera juice to cure GERD? And also I'm trying to gain wight so is whey Protein Isolate? Ik its from milk but it doesn't bother my stomach only cheese and other dairy products does
@MetalD94 I think aloe is great, but diet change is very important. Why not try just plant foods for 3 months and see what happens? But, can't be junk food! And, no fast food! I would do no dairy (or whey) for those three months. If you do this, post back in 3 months and tell us what happened!
Then why do I have esophagitis if my reflux is caused by LOW stomach acid? That makes 0 sense...why do people get esophageal cancer if they have LOW stomach acid. I don't think LOW stomach acid would have the ability to destroy a persons esophagus...that makes no sense.
@KawaiyoKoji Yes, it makes sense. Low stomach acid means you are not digesting food properly, not destroying pathogens, and not causing the right communication between all openings. It gets all messed up when stomach acid is not doing its job. Google "low stomach acid gerd" and read up on it.
hello doctor..please please help me... I am 32 and suffers from GERD for almost 15 years..I'd really need your help please reply or send me a PM..thank you
@MsRamona14 hi i have acid reflux too im pilipino..suffering sometyms i cant breath huhuhu very difficult to breath....but dont panic relax the best medication is to diet
Excellent video, Dr. Kim. I especially liked the mention of organic foods as helpful and your explanation of why artificial drugs neutralize stomach acid and why this is bad.
Stomach acid is classified as a "strong acid." It's good at breaking down a lot of foods. It's not good at breaking down waxy fats. A reflux cycle can be created by the body's struggle to break down those waxy fats.
A "weak acid" is able to break down those foods that a "strong acid" cannot.
You've probably heard of natural remedies, like apple cider vinegar. That's a weak acid.
My acid reflux was caused by a folic acid deficiency. I take a B complex suppliment - problem solved.
i am so confused! i got that reflux from my kidney and going up to my esophagus.. i feel that during 3am.. then i got cought followed by sneezing.. what is the remedy?
Hi I live in orange county I will be calling you I have 1 week with sever acid or bile reflux non stop they found a hernia I'm on protonix know and with no relief I feel pain on my stomach and fire on chest throat and my ears feel like popping I'm in so much pain I tried calling today Sat but your closed I will call Monday thanks I hope to god you can help me ...
Thanks for sharing. What would you suggest for a 2 yr old with GERD on 30mg of prevacid. Her esophagus was not attached to her stomach at birth(EA/TEF) and was repaired at birth. Because it doesnt function properly, food sometimes goes back in her nose and she has lots of reflux. Sometimes she has long coughing spells while eating that sound like croup attacks and it is heartbreaking. I'm trying to turn to a different route to see if that could help. She's taking Culturelle daily for constipation
@worldys Also she has drinks thickened with Xantham Gum daily as she aspirates. I buy organic food and she doesnt have any fast food or processed food. she has a very balanced diet with very little meat as I am a vegetarian. What would you recommend, to you think Apple Cider Vinegar might help in her case?
I do notice that the acidophilus and papaya enzymes seem to help. Also, thinking of something like ocean waves while feeling the water from the shower seems to calm my nerves during an attack, which made me feel so much better. There are cures beyond the Omeprazole I am prescribed. A better diet, reduced stress and excercise helps. Of course staying away from fast food and too many spices plays a big part. I'm 40 years old and I got tired of feeling like I was crippled from acid reflux.
raw probiotic women, primal defense ultra ultimate probiotic or immune balance yeast freeze these are all from Garden of Life. I purchased their Raw Enzymes but I still feel that weird feeling in my stomach and at times a watery feeling in my mouth. This morning I had two slices of ezekiel bread with organic penut butter (blended only with nuts nothing added, they make it when I purchase it) half banana and water I added enzymes to my water.
I purchased raw enzymes for women and its making me feel good I changed to a vegan diet since starting today however during the weekend I didnt have any milk since I wasnt really aware of what vegan really ment. I purchased bioK but at $6 each I cant afford one of these daily so I have three options as probiotics can you tell me wich one would you pick.
I've been experiencing acid reflux this week it feels horrible I dont eat fast food 75% of my diet is organic I eat 6 times a day my diet is based on protein fruits and vegables when I eat bread its Ezequiel bread. So what am I doing wrong?why do I have acid reflux I dont drink alcohol and drink about 96 oz of water a day,I exercise 4 days a week. I've always noticed that I am bloded or very gassy 3 out of 7 days a week. What am I doing wrong can someone tell me please! I weight 135lbs height 5'6
@elle241983 It sounds like you are eating well; do eat whole, live foods? That is, is a lot of your food raw, and from the produce section? Have you tried going vegan for a while to see what happens? I suggest you try vegan for two weeks, and also take probiotics (Bio-K once per day is best) and digestive enzymes, and report back and let us know if that worked.
@LarryCook333 I will try this can you please give me some examples of enzymes and how to take them. I try not to cook my vegetables and eat as much as I can raw the only thing I am cooking afcorse is meet I dont eat red meet mostly just chicken, eggs whites, turkey, milk organic. Vegetables organic, fruits organic and try to buy locally. I will try going vegan for two weeks
@elle241983 Animal products cause acid reflux, as do processed foods, so if you go vegan for two weeks you may see a marked improvement. That means no dairy, or eggs, as well. Okay to cook some veggies, I do that too. You can get digestive enzyme supplements at your local health food store; take them with every meal. I talk about enzymes on my supplements page on my website (see above for the link).
@LarryCook333 Thanks for your prompt response I will try your suggestions and look foward to feeling wonderful this weekend :) I will keep you posted.
I HAVE A STOMACH PAIN AND THE DOCTOR CAN DO NOTING .I AM GOING TOTHE GI AND HE CAN DO NOTHING EITHER .DO YOU HAVE ANY THING ON STAMACH PAIN THEY SAID THE I HAVE GASTRITIS
@bill97656 you can find Dr. Kim's contact info in the description. She might take phone consultations, but I am not sure. Ask her and see what she says. :) Larry
@swtwatermelon im with you man. meds are not really working for me just a bit but i have to go back to my doctor and review my x rays and see where to go from there.
The cure? Don't over eat, don't drink alcohol, eat more dried fruits like figs and dates and have 1oz of wheatgrass juice in the morning and one at night. Cured me fast and I tried all the pills and different cures. Acid reflux seems to be caused by the body not being in acid balance. The alkalinity of the foods I mentioned fix that.
Great Video, Larry! Dr. Patti is an excellent communicator and she relays informative, tangible advice & tips that are so helpful. I enjoyed listening to this interview especially because my husband was just diagnosed with an ulcer & I am treating it with natural health remedies vs. the medication his Dr. prescribed. So the information provided here was especially timely...Thanks & keep up the great work on behalf of us "natural health" champions!!! Cheering you on... xx
