  • Great video!! Thank you!!

Went from 1GB to 3GB- wow! What a difference!!!

    

  • @raks1879 what's the difference? It's thinking faster?

  • i brought 4gb of ram (2x2gb) and if I put both in I get BSOD. Howver if I have one of them in with the default 1gb ram it works

  • @MusicWizardAlick I'm having the same problem and looking for a solution too.

  • HP says '( you can do it) if you feel comfortable doing it yourself, or come in store' this was to someone else not me but The problem looks so easily fixed, I just don't want to end up having to pay for a new laptop if this one breaks because I voided warranty over something small.

  • My laptop didn't wake up from standby mode and now when I turn it on the screen stays black but the caps lock and num lock flash three times then it restarts then they flash constantly ( the ram light is lit orange) HP says it means RAM needs to be reseated. Am I allowed to remove the stickers covering the access ports or will I void warranty?

  • Thank You! Although the dutch version has a different colour 2nd slot. That was black.

  • can I upgrade this laptop into windows 7 ???

  • @forecasterboy Yes you can

  • @forecasterboy Yes you can

  • Great Video. Very well said. I like how you put emphasis on static. I just wanted to say that I also remove my shoes when I work on a computer. Static is very dangerous around electrical equipment.

  • @UncleRay11 And all that time you wondered why everyone leaves the room when you're working on your PC...

  • i have a acer aspire 5551a laptop it now has 3gb ram and 250gb hdd i want 8gb ram and 500 gb hdd can u send me direct links to places where i can get this please

  • @zCmcD sorry we can't post URL's in youtube comments. Please visit our website in the video description and search for your model in the search bar, or navigate to Acer, then Aspire, then 5551.

  • can i put any ram into any laptop also is ram dear id be looking 4gb

  • @zCmcD Not all RAM is compatible in all laptops. You need to identify which RAM is specific to your computer. Go to our website and you can find your specific brand/ model of computer there, and the right upgrades to go with it.

  • So simple! Thank you!

  • if I remove my old memory chip, will i lose the data that is in my computer?

  • @leycorbin4ever . Your data is stored on your hard drive, not on the memory modules. So long as you take good anti-static precautions, it is safe to remove and reinstall memory modules without losing any of your data. I recommend you make regular backups of your data, as hard drives often fail.

  • @RamCitydotcomdotau How do I make regular backups??

  • WHat kind of RAm do I nid for HP 550?

  • @josiahivan Go to our website, click on HP/Compaq on the left, then click on 500 series notebook, then click on 550. You'll see the correct upgrades listed there.

  • also my laptop screen has gone black so i cant see anything do u know how to fix it

  • @mohamedplaya - we are memory upgrade specialists - I'm sorry we can't assist with a screen problem.

  • @mohamedplaya

Try taking off the battery then take it on again then turn the laptop on.

  • can you please tell me what webs site you can buy the screw driver from plz

  • @mohamedplaya - try your local hardware store.

  • yeah i had a question, isnt hardrive the same as Ram memory? i have a presario f700 but i want to upgrade to a intel dual-core 3.0Ghz or higher and i need 2gb of ram or more for a hd webcam to work on my laptop...do i need to buy a hard drive or what, because im confused? pls answer asap

  • @DonVares Hard drive space and RAM are not the same thing. The term "RAM" stands for Random Access Memory, which is why Memory also tends to be used to mean the same thing. Space, Hard Drive, or Disk Storage usually refers to the Hard Drive space.

  • hi i have an hp g7000 laptop just wanted to know after i have installed the new ram, will the system automatically recongnise it? or will i have to do a clean reboot ?

    help is much appreciated thankz

  • @GrEaTeSt786 After you install the memory (assuming the machine was turned off), just turn it on, follow any system prompts, and when fully booted the operating system will recognised the new RAM. Note, only around 3-3.5GB will be recognised in a 32-bit operating system.

  • hi i wanted to ask you two questions mine is 550 hp intel celeron 2 gb ram and wanted to know if this pc has video card and the other was where I can get those cards ram?

  • @e32pablo1 Finding the right upgrade is easy, First go to the RamCity website (see our profile or google it if you need to) then choose the manufacturer of your laptop, then the family, then the model number. If you follow this video you don't need to do anything else, the laptop will automatically recognise the extra memory. This laptop doesn't have an upgradeable video card.

  • @NERDYBOY1664 On the testing we have done this machine recognised about 3.2GB of 4GB installed RAM. So upgrading to 4GB from 3GB may only give you a slight improvement in performance.

  • thanks !!

  • tahx 1gb on ebay

  • this is my laptop...!!

  • Hi, my HP 550 is an Intel Celeron with 1GB RAM, is it worth upgrading to 4GB (i mean will it run faster/smoother?)

  • 2 questions.

how do i know what kind of ram to install on my laptop?

do i have to do any thing software wise afterwards?

    Thanks in advance

  • Finding the right upgrade is easy, then choose the manufacturer of your laptop, then the family, then the model number. If you follow this video you don't need to do anything else, the laptop will automatically recognise the extra memory.

  • Does changing the ram cause me to lose any date/files?

  • All of your files are stored on the hard disk, which is separate from RAM. So your data is safe if you upgrade the RAM.

  • how many slots the hp 550 has? these two memories are 2gbs each?

  • Yes, that is correct.

  • Only if he is running a 64 bit OS. A 32 bit OS can only use up to 3.2 gigs of ram so your better off installing 3 gigs.

  • is 4gig ram max? cuz i want to buy but i dont know how much i should get ;) please answer ASAP! xD

  • Yes, that is the maximum for the HP 550

  • Thank you very much, I've upgraded my HP 550 to 4gb and is very quick now. Thank you very much.

  • Comment removed

  • do I have to change any settings after I install the ram?? pls reply

    btw nice vid :)

  • The most you may need to do is press a key after rebooting to accept the changes to the system parameters after you add the extra ram.

  • The graphics are fixed on this machine and can't be upgraded. The best thing you can do is max out the memory.

  • how much for this RAM?

  • Please see our website for prices and options.

  • um, plz show me how to get more virual ram on my computer.... i have 512 mb rite now, when i grow up i want to become a pilot, so theres a game called fsx(flight simulator x) i need some more speed in order to train to become my dream. currently, my fsx runs really slow. wanna see how slow it runs? go on my channel and look up my fsx vid. i ned about 4gb of virt. ram to sped up my fsx. and thx for replying :D

  • I think you mean you need more physical memory. If you look up your computer on our website you can check the available upgrades.

  • does this work on a microsoft home edtion version 2002 severice pack 2?

  • 4GB is the hard limit for 32-bit operating systems, including XP home edition. Depending on your configuration though, your pc will recognise 3-3.5gb if you install 4gb, as some memory is reserved memory addressing space for graphics controllers and other peripherals. There is more detailed information about this in the Help / FAQ section of our website.

  • thx! ;)

  • oh my god. Thanks man. i wanna install more ram in my hp 550. appreciate that guide. thanks dude!
