Hey bdrjaber, I was in the same spot a little while back. To be quite honest it depends on you. Compare what it is you want in the bike with what each model is offering. Try and test drive them as well. When you do the feel of the bike will tell you the rest!
it depends on YOU.. while we all here seem to perefer the Yamaha, WE dont matter. IF you feel better on an rc51 or an rvt1000 and u can afford it, stick with it. If u have to ask which is better..........
my 2005 r1 use to be that color till someone hit me now its all black and tricked out i think except for the bike getting to hot its perfect for the street but on the track the stupid thing scares me so 600s a lil better
I used to have a 2005 R1 Winning Blue but a friend crashed it :((( I don't like 1000cc Racing series; I think they are too powerful for using daily, I'll get a 2007 R6 in white in May
PS: no other bike looks as good as the R1 though...

I get fucking goose bumps with sound of 1000cc sportsbike, that's why I never enjoy riding on the streets, track is the only way you can get it out of your system in a safe envirement.
