I have wanted to be a photographer since I was little, I'm 35 now and recently lost my job/career. So I just bought a Sony A55 with tripod n all :-) I am sooooo glad I found ur videos, as soon as I get my cash flow back up...I WANT THAT VIDEO you talk about!! Thank you so very much!!!!
Man ur great. I`m 17 years old and i do photography about 8-9 months, and still i learn from you things that are just so simply and i know them but i dont focus on them.
I have been watching a ton of videos on here to help get me out of AUTO mode but you are by far the best I have come across. I actually am not understanding what all these things mean (ISO, Aperture, etc) and how they all come together.
nice vids., i learned a lot from ur vids even though i dont have my cam yet, but im gonna be having it on january., its a "panasonic lumix GF1, (20mm lens)"., can i ask for a simple advice on my cam.,thanks.,
hey, i am starting to like you quick videos its teaching me some basic info that i didnt know. thanks i subscribed i am a rookie in this field so plz let keep us updated i am trying to get to use my canon rebel slr camera with the fstop and shutter speeds its a bit tricky. I want to take those nice movie pics i am a portrait and love the blur affect on the pics any suggestions?? on how to?
My Canon 5D Mark II has the ability to show the Red Green and Blue (RGB) histograms. It also has the ability to adjust/tint these colors in addition to Magenta which of course does not have a histogram. Not being an artist, could you give some pointers on how the Magenta tint adjustment plays into the color schemes e.g. adding more Magenta tint add allow you to mix the RGB colors and come up with say more "yellows" in your picture?
I love your videos, they are teaching me things I wasn't aware of, you put things in lamen terms which is helpful for me and sure for others, and you crack me up. You have done great work here. Is your DVD still up for sale?
thank you for all the information !! I am just starting photography for fun and your lessons are helpping me a lot!! The only problem is that I have to watch all the video one shot because I cannot stop!!
I just wanted to say that you are the only tutorials that I watch on youtube!! YOu make learning fun, have ons of helpful info, and CRACK ME UP!!!!! Keep up the great work.
would you consider showing examples of bad photography, and then the results of implementing the things you teach to show how those bad photos can get better? seeing things as examples will probably be more effective, i believe.
got xsi after a damn long longing for slr, and using the kit lens, which came almost free (some 2 hour deal in amazon, lucky me). Well I am going to Nepal, place where I call home, do you have any wide angle suggestions (tight budget situation). Another thing, is 50 mm f1.8 a portrait lens or can it be used for landscape as well.
The tungsten light bulb just came on - now I know why they say it's good to have a cloudy day for weddings!!! Love the videos, will drop in to Samy's when I get to LA as we have zip like this that store in Brisbane, Australia. And anything we do have is double the price, even on eBay :(
with the risk of sounding cheezy...I thank God that i found your tutorials on youtube tonight.I love photography...but i had a lot of frustrating moments when i couldn't understand things..and i felt alone on this road i'm taking .But now i don't feel alone anymore,so THANK you.
quick question, how can we implement the photography in photoshop? suppose someone can't afford to get all these big flashes, soft boxes,...etc. so can we use the photoshop instead all these stuff?? and how accurate is the lighting in the photoshop? by the way i like your videos they are great and am looking forward to order the DVD to learn more thanks again
Photoshop can only do so much and becomes very destructive when over correcting. I have not tried but I believe you can't duplicate the look without damaging the image and making it look phony.
Use what lights you have until you can afford to gear up. A north-facing window lets in a very soft light but I am not sure it that changes on the southern hemisphere. ? =o) ? But anyhow, it doesn't cost a thing.
@FontanaKnowledge Yep in the Southern Hemisphere the sun is in the Northern part of the sky, so the light from the North is very harsh as certain times of day.
Photoshop can give you any look you want as far as lighting, color temp, vibrance, and basically everything except increasing pixel quality beyond what your camera is capable of. which means you really need to know how to use the filters and masks correctly without losing clearity.
No. The lens focuses and defines the image and controls the right amount of light that will enter. Then that whatever image is burned onto the silver particles of the film, or CMOS Chip for digital.
Another way to diffuse the sun light is simply a cloudy day, which is the best time to shoot even at high noon. Amateurs think that a sunny day is a good day for outdoors people photography.
Thanks for doing this man!!! This is great work. I know you use photoshop but would be great having some videos or DVDs from you showing some good tips on Aperture (Apple software).
Excellent tutorials man!!! Thanks for doing this for everyone. I know you use photoshop but would be great to have some tutorials or DVDs from you showing some tips on Aperture (Apple software).

Definition of photography comes from greek which means: Writing with light!
PHOTO=LIGHT
GRAPHIA=TO WRITE
formaset 2 years ago 3
i think its because writing is like engraving so a photo is engraving light onto your picture
Eddyf24 2 years ago
No. The lens focuses and defines the image and controls the right amount of light that will enter. Then that whatever image is burned onto the silver particles of the film, or CMOS Chip for digital.
formaset 2 years ago
so figuratively its engraving it on
Eddyf24 2 years ago
Photo derives from the word Phos, which means Light in greek. Grapho= to write. graphia is kind of a noun.
