is his a classical guitar??i love that sound...it's like between a classical and an acoustic...can anyone says me the nature of that sound??=) and all the respect for pete...he is simply amazing...=)
If anyone's interested the tabs for this arrangement are in the Oct 2009 issue of "Acoustic Guitar Magazine". It says it took him months of practice to get it down so good luck!
@Daelmyth I saw him at Blvd Music in Culver City, CA in 2002 and he was awesome as well. SUPER nice guy, funny as hell. Awesome entertainer! I had met him previously at the 2000 Aspen Memorial for John Denver at a workshop he hosted. Fantastic instructor with tons of funny stories about his time with John.
Yes, Pete, Adam, and Tommy are friends. All the debate about the three of them just makes me laugh. They are all brilliant. I have never met Tommy, but Pete and Adam are both supremely cool people.
That arrangement is hard as shit. He is playing 3 parts simultaneously. The trade is a minimum 3-4 months practice time to get that thing going if ever.
I have been trying to learn this song for the last couple of months. I can get most of the Phrases down. Trouble is I forget where i am in the song. Fantastic guitar player this guy.
Pete Huttlinger is one of those guitarists that are so unbelieveable at what they do, that their live performaces sound EXACTLEY like the recorded Version of the song.
wow, I want the tab for this because if I start trying to learn it now than by the time I retire I'll be able to pull it off in the old folks home. sheesh!!
HAHAHAHAH! Love this intro! One of the most virtuoso performances and performers of our era... Note to video editor; Let the guitar do the talking. One shot is plenty for work like this; we want to see the fretboard, not manufactured sepia...
Llarion: Thanks for the comments. I will make sure that in future video work for Pete that I am careful to have more fretboard...seriously. Nice to know what people want... Cheers
Thanks for reading , man... guitar wonks just want to see the playing; start with a static full shot for the intro, zoom it to where you were at about 1:30 as soon as he starts playing, and jkust leave it there for the rest of the song. You don't need to artificially create any sense of motion or do any cutaways at all, just capture the moment... Look at the one TrueFireTV put up of this song a while back; it has everything that needs to be there and no more... Thanks!
@sumoflam Future videos? I'm not sure about those. My dad knows him personally, they went to school together and he's dying from some disease. I don't remember if it's cancer of what. Future videos would amaze me. We'd be some lucky people if he makes it through.
Nice!!! Anybody hear how he's recovering from his stroke? Hopefully, it didn't mess up his motor skills.

Do you folks know, that Pete was the back up guitarist for John Denver ? He made Johns songs sound even more beautiful.

this is awesome .. doesn't achieve the same groove as adam rafferty's tho .. but stil great

This version is the best, way better than Adam`s one.
cosam76 3 years ago
I like them both... but Adam plays it like he's black. Pete's is the 'white-boy' version. :)

This comment has received too many negative votes show
so to you all white people are more technically adept at the guitar then all black people?

Totally awesome, a true artist at work, or is it more like play? He seems to love what he does, maybe that is why he is so amazing.

agree 100% w/ the recording suggestions. I am a guitarist myself and a big stevie wonder fan as well. (saw him @ a winery a couple months ago) :)
