Acer has a new bios for this laptop to fix the battery drain problem.

With the new bios, after 72 hours of being off I've only lost 5% charge. Before I was losing 5-6% per day. So much for them saying it was 'normal' when I sent it in for RMA 7 months ago.

I think its called an ultra portable , also the acer aspire one 751h is very similar good speakers same size screen, but it has a slower processor and the terrible gma 500 graphics chipset.

Acer has a problem with this laptop. I have the same one and it will drain the battery about 5% per day when it is completely OFF (not sleeping). When the battery is removed, it does not discharge, so the laptop itself is doing it. I have the latest BIOS and 'wake on lan' is off.

Leave it off for a week and you'll be down nearly 50% in power.

1/1000 of their models may have a problem where the batteries lose power passively. Just charge it every night, if you don't use it for a week, just charge it the night before you plan on using it. Not that big of a deal.

It is a big deal if one forgets as lithium cells do not like to be deep discharged. Deep discharges significantly reduces their lifetime. This is a design fault, at least with the SU2300 version.

@REALSLIK Well, the processor is not soldered onto the motherboard like netbooks have it. So, for $400 +$262, you can buy a SU9400, which is a 10 W Core 2 Duo on the same socket and FSB.

I wonder how this compares to "Acer Aspire AS1410-2285" that just came out and is $50 cheaper.With a Intel Celeron SU2300(1.2GHz). I wanna get 1 of these 2 or the HP mini 311. Mini 311 still has the weak Atom though..while it is best for video and games.I think it is also a hinderance for a netbook,because that kills battery life.

I can confirm that 1080p video plays smoothly, but only after upgrading to Windows 7 (which is included free because it comes with Vista Home Premium). Although the CPU load does get to 100% at times, it doesn't skip frames. Give more credit to the 4500MHD :P

So everyone knows, the Aspire 1410 uses DDR2 667MHz RAM, and not DDR3 like the video shows. Slap in a 2GB DDR2 module and you've got 4GB RAM!
