Military is loyal to themselves, OK...loyal to their employers US govt OK....and least loyal to their employees, the people? What? How are the people "employees" of the military?
I see the line of thinking with this, it seems so obvious now. I assumed he was referring to the people in a general sense. Thanks for clearing that up.
Defence spending Cut by 90%? Wow ... if you said that in Canada, the powers that be would hunt you down and assassinate you either literally or personally, or financially, or what ever method would suit their order of the day (it's their form of Rule of Law).
I agree, but speaking as a formal army soldier in a Western military myself, there's going to be a BIG struggle between two broad camps that I believe reside in each military. The morally righteous soldiers composed who won't go along with the creation of a police state, and the institutionalized soldiers who so depend on the establishment for their livelihood, they will have no conscientious objection against oppressing their fellow citizens.
@1977Melville Sadly, in my opinion, most of "the old guard" institutionalist soldiers are those who are currently in positions of power, high in the chain of command. Many of the new, young soldiers have a strong conscience, many just wear a uniform because they have no other prospects in the civilian world.
Either way, I wouldn't want to be involved if and when the tensions between the two camps happens.
@MyOwnYTAccount. That could happen. Also, with public debt in the trillions, those who serve in the mlitary may find themselves stranded when the USA goes bankrupt. A tragedy in the works.
@TimothyADonaghue I wasnt even thinking charts and slides(though i often do whenever i hear it come up), but yeah. Good point. I like the rest of what ive seen but this little bit has really got me interested in the whole conference.
Btw did you hear that the UN has "proof" that Iran is wanting to make a Nuclear bomb? What about proof thay want to use it? What about North Korea who not only has a Nuclear Bomb but threaten to use it all the time and has even attacked an Ally of the west(S Korea)?
Indeed. And the hammer is going to pound the gavel soon. We all need to recognize that we're the specific kind of folks they're going to arrest into prison camps, as well. @freesk8
Can someone explain to me what he means at 3:13?
