Finally got around to watching this, and thoroughly regret doing so. I figured they would shit up the story, but to say that wolverine CHOSE to get the adamantium put in him, totally goes against a fundamental premise that shaped the character. The reaon for his memory loss at the end was the final joke played on the fans of the character. If anyone needs to get rid of the disgusting after-taste of the movie, read Barry W Newton's Weapon X.

It molds and changes its characters backstorys constantly( in both its movies and books),while at the same time never dismissing or forgetting about the Original backgrounds of its characters. The movie wasn't supposed to be exactly like the comics! Think of it as being like the Ultimate universe. You get a lot of of familiar characters and plot devices, but it's MEANT to be different from the original story. I will admit, there were a couple of things in the movie for which I see no excuse, but on the whole it was really a good movie.

A movie that really does Wolverine justice would probably be 5 hours long at least. Sometimes, the producers really just can't spend that much. They did all the flashy cg stuff because that's what the majority of the movie viewers will want to see. Right before Wolverine breaks open the mutant cages on the island in the end, he looks around. When he turns left, you see a young black girl with white hair hiding in a little blizzard in her cage.
