Took off my Spacebar wanting to clean underneath due to excessive dust, now it only works in the middle when I press on it, but not on the right and left edges when I press on them. Did I not reapply it properly or did I break something taking it off? I've tried several times reapplying it. It feels stiff. HP Pavilion dv6000. I should have used an Air Duster!
Thanks for the video! I also have an HP ProBook 4710s and I need a guide on how to clean the fan and the heatsink because mine has been running too hot and very little airflow is produced by the fan because of dust. I also don't want to mess it up but that would be awesome if you could!
@Gman200108 I also have this shitty computer and it has been giving me headaches since I got it. Does your unit make a ton of noise all the time, even though the fan is clean?
@MatteNoob No my fan was so full of dust though that the fan sounded like a friggin weedwacker but i cleaned it out now its pretty quiet but that laptops cooling design is a piece of shit theres no vents and the fan is supposed to get air through the keyboard? stupid hp. the fan is quieter now that its clean but theres no where for the fan to suck in air so the fan runs really fast all the time trying to cool it down with no friggin airflow. Its a good laptop other than that.

They say it is the customers responsibility to service the unit, and I'm ok with that if you get easy access, but this! In addition there was nothing about this in the manual that came with the unit. @Gman200108 Hi again. This is regarding heat issues with ProBook 4710s. Just wanted to let you know that I had a 7200 rpm hdd. I cleaned and added new cooling paste. This made it more silent, but it still sounded like a vacuum after some use. I then swapped the 7200 rpm drive with an SSD. These have no moving parts, they are more energy efficient and it is now usable again. It makes a little humming, but not nearly what I'm used to. I can now take it to class without pissing everyone off.
@MatteNoob Cool. Can you direct me to where you got directions on how you disassembled it down to the CPU and GPU? Like where you can take the whole heatsink out because all I know how to do is take the speaker cover and the keyboard off.
@Gman200108 sure, try to google around for "hp 4710s probook service manual" and similar terms. That will lead you to their service manual which has a step by step tutorial with images of what you've got to do. Be sure to have some cooling paste available. The heatsink collects a LOT of dust, so you must screw out the fan in there and really get everything out.
Cant seem to find replacement keyboard.. Got any ideas were to get the exact same keyboard from??
