All them are going to have it hard breaking into the US. American rookie artists have a hard time making it big. U nlike Asia that has music shows that rtists can debut on and promote their albums we dont have that in US. You have to do shows and get to know wpoplw in the industry. WG has been doing all that past few years. It takes years for any act to become successful. Katy Perry Beyonce Rihanna didnt become popular overnight it took them years of hardowrk.
GG has performed in the U.S. before and has a fan base here, but to make an English debut to try to reach everyone wouldn't pan out too well. I don't think having 9 members will help them, because like Sarang said, it's mostly solo artists here now. 2NE1 will have the best chance because there's only 4 of them, and they have Will.I.Am backing their debut.
ppl keep saying GG is too cutesy for the US but hello! the best music generation is when all the girly music was around; britney spears, christina aguilera, jessica simpson, etc.
LOL. I thought you'd gonna say "Taecyeon and Jessica would make the most beautiful couple." but you say "the most beautiful children" instead, so I'm like.. O_O
The Boys to cutesy WTH is wrong with you people LMAO the boys is definitely not cutesy. The Boys is more like todays music sort of. Gee and Oh will are hella cutesy
I think Girls' Generation will do well. Just because music now are like dance songs. Im really scared that 2ne1 will be hated. Just because in the U.S they would say they're the lady gaga copy cat, weird, or the music. 2ne1 style of music isnt something America wants right now. But Best Wishes To The BOTH OF THEM!!!!!! I LOVE THEM BOTH!!!!!!
I think Kpop needs to wait a few years before breaking into the US because I would have never known about them coming here if I wasn't a fan.
People are saying 2NE1 could make it and I think they could too because of the Peas, but they probably won't be that popular, I'm also 85% sure I will never hear The Boys on the radio
SNSD could POSSIBLY break into the US market, because they represent something lacking in American pop culture...cuteness and modesty. 2NE1 is the opposite. Bad girl is too common in the US market.
i only don't think snsd would make it big, maybe get a couple shows/interviews (more than they already have so far) and then that would be it. They're good but ... they just don't appeal to american audiences, I think Miss A or 2NE1 would do loads better ): I'm a huge SONE and as much as i want to stay positive and cher them I also have to be realistic. I hope they do well though! It would be nice to have a bunch of innocent/dorky celebs who are pure instead of the sex crazed american artists.
But I'm not saying that the songs sucks, I OH-SO-LOVE the Korean Version of it!!! Gosh~ But the eng. ver. Nah, I'll pass. One more thing, GG has this cute image no matter how hard they try to be more lady-like and in America, cute things are all "eww" and no body wants it there so that would be a huge hindrance in my opinion okay? 2ne1 I guess will have a chance since they're like the strongest girl group in Korea. "Bad-ass Chicks" you may say and I-OH-SO-LOVE them too!! >.<
Even though GG's "The Boys" is produced by the-no-other-than Teddy Riley it doesn't mean they can completely break into US. Seriously, look at their English men?? Let's face it, their English sucks except for the members who grew up in US I guess, but the rest are of no good really. When I heard the Eng. Ver. at first time, I was like, their somewhat eating the words they say and I couldn't understand a single thing except "B-bring the Boys out."
Lol SNSD is not even debuting in the Americas yet just releasing a Maxi Single XD inform yourself before talking people and no one knows what will happen its not about only the songs they make but how well they understand marketing :) so yeah maybe 2ne1 has more american music but if their company does not do well in the marketing part its all over for them Lol and even if SNSD does not make it in the Americas they already conquer ASIA so i dont see the need to even come to America Lol
@SNSDCookies Actually America gives the biggest influence and the most important to worldwide fame. The majority of well known famous people in the world are from America
@OppaChu But they didn't. They're losers in America. Their CD for 'Nobody' was sold for free along side a bag of rice in asian markets. They are "Nobody's' in America.
@Lovebites2014 Actually they made it on the billboard. Something really hard to get onto. So maybe the nobody is you the person unknown on the internet hatin'
I live in New Zealand and I think 2NE1 would have the biggest chance of succeding here. But to be honest I think I like the fact that not everyone knows who there are. They are my fun little secret shhh don't tell.
Honestly I don't think any group(Boys or girls) will successfully debut here in the U.S. mainly because solo artists are the ones who dominate the charts as of now.
However, if you ask me I would love to have 2NE1 debut in America or maybe Big Bang I think they would represent Kpop well.
Also, I don't like when Kpop artists try to sing in the language of the country where they're debuting. It's weird to me and didn't we all fell in love as they are and not the language itself? Hope I make sense
now when 2ne1 debuts in america, which i know they will soon as we all know they're working with the amazing will.i.am. but when 2ne1 comes to america, no doubt, I KNOW THEY WILL SUCCEED!!!
I know that wonder girls are debuting in america soon, and i'm super excited and cannot wait for their english debut!! again, it's going to be challenging, but in my heart, i have much faith that these girls will succeed!!!
*there's no such thing as failure, as long as you don't give up! and at the end if and when you give up, as long as in your heart you gave it your all*
snsd breaking into america is definitely a challenge! in my honest opinion, i think it will be hard as well considering there are just too many girls. & I don't think the language will be a problem, so far listening to the english version of the boys, i can understand them clearly enough and I really like the song. however i believe they have the potentials, & no matter what I wish them the best!
I think they have a chance. The Boys is a pretty epic music video. Besides, they're better than any girl group we have here in America. What was our last one? Danity Kane. Yeah... These girls have been together since forever, and if people don't think they have individuality, those people should see them on korean talk shows. They're like the most hilarious group. xD
Whaoooo!!! I like Sixth Sense! actually it kinda grew on me, watch the music core stages their powerful performance will make you love the song, and I dont think SNSD as a whole will make it in the U.S media, I think maybe Tiffany and Jessica have some potential, because they can speak english and they have the out going american personality... just maybe..
@seygra20 Oh pshaw! Who cares? What do you need in pop music? Good music, good-looking people, good dancing. If America seriously rejects a group just for it's size, that's really petty and stupid.
@iSNEEZES Currently America is in the solo artist mode at the moment. As you stated before the last group was ages ago in which America moved from Backstreet boys to Lady Ga Ga.
"the boys" wont make it here in america its too cutsey....... i think 2ne1 has the biggest chance of breaking into american music more than any girl group.
@koolchica55 I agree about 2NE1 & maybe BEG will make it in USA, too. With their new album & Music Video/Drama "Cry,Cry", now T-ara has to be included in discussing who would "make" it in US. SNSD might make it just because they would be included with all these groups & find fans also, based on their singing & dancing talent, esp. "Live"!!!
@Dafadork97 ok i like the wg... but they have been here and have been opening acts for artist but if they were to have made it here i would have already heard them on the radio... i think the wg MIGHT be famous in the underground but i just doubt it so much.
it not the lack of skills it more like the music style itself is not suited for america anymore
@koolchica55 Idk if it's only in english, but the lyrics make no sense, it start off with them being the hottest girl in the club and then it's about them making it to the top..
I think they have the potential, but they picked a horrible song. Its so... BLAH. I can't listen to it in English because I hate those: IM SO HOT ALL THE BOYS WANT ME songs. BLAH. Can only listen to it in korean, where I cant understand shit.
to bad im from merica and have know clue who you are talking about.. but its ok i like to hear your vioce lol.. and are all the famous people in britain asain?
Snsd are already available on Spotify and have been for quite some time, I'm from Sweden and people don't listen all that much to the radiomusic, people tend to listen to Spotify or similar, I play quite a lot of K-pop and J-pop at parties with my friends and now they're hooked as well! <3
But I think that it will take quite some time until any asian music is being played on the radio though : /
i dont love brown eyed girls's new album but i absolutely love the mv for sixth sense and even though at first the song was a bit strange to me i love it now and like any dance crazy kpop fan i learned the dance to sixth sense instantly =D
on snsd's american debut i dont think they'll get far with it the songs ok but their english isnt always very clear and the song isnt exactly a killer track but i do want them to do well =) i cant wait for 2ne1's english album to come out =D
See, I think if any K-Pop group has a chance of breaking out here in America, it would 2NE1. 2NE1 has an attitude and way about that, that other K-pop groups are lacking. Each girls has her own personality, her own style, etc. Girls Generation is just a bunch of cute girls...no individuality. Here in America, individuality is everything when it comes to a band and what makes it stand out.
i like BEG's new song...truthfully when I first heard it, i didn't think that high-note was really until i watched ga-in (and narsha..?) on stage :O unbereeebabooo!
and nearly everyone has already debuted in my country hahah yay japan.
if snsd release fierce songs like run devil run then they stand a chance. if they release songs like oh! then no... they would probably be waaaaaaaaaaaay too cute... unless they target the disney market...
i liked beg's new song... but the video was far superior than the song...
I'm sooo excited for SNSD releasing internationally. I <3 them. They seem to be doing quite well in the charts so far, considering they're not promoting and it's only been out for a day.
I totally loved Sixth Sense, it was very dramatic and theatrical. Something different from what we usually get from the KPOP world.
As for SNSD,I do appreciate their efforts, and I really do enjoy their song... however...
America plays songs with more mature concepts. SNSD's song concept is a bit too "soft". In general, it's very hard for Asian artists to assimilate into the American music industry.
I think that YG/JYP makes music that would better suit America (2NE1, Big Bang, 2PM, Miss A)
I think 2ne1 could make it in America pretty well. They have great music and personality, and their style is wild and kind of out there which mainstream America is accepting nowadays in a few different forms (Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Nikki Minaj).
SNSD in America could go two possible ways: the media could be intrigued by a 9-girl group, or they could instantly reject it as too foreign of a concept.
Where did you move to Adam? :) You can't leave behind your Irish roots?! btw are you supporting Janet in Xfactor? lolol sorry going off topic but, as a hardcore SONE I don't think SNSD could break American like 2NE1/Big Bang could, the reasons are obvious and I don't think this is an actually debut more like SME testing the waters seeing the reaction!:P SMTOWN NY on Sunday will be a turning point for SME though :) oh and RTE featured 2NE1 for a couple of secs. An Irish radio played Fiction too
tbh, I think it would be hard for any k-pop idols to break into america. but if someone could do it it would be 2ne1 I think... because they don't have the cute concept.
You know, it's kind of your fault that I lissen to k-pop, but it took two years for me to realy get stuck :) Thak you, though!
Not super fond of Girls' Generation,I'm more fond of 2ne1 to be compleatly honest, but I've no idea if either would make it in the US. I've seen the Brown Eyed Girls video and wasn't too impressed, even though it kind of looked good. And,and, pleas don't film in fron of gd & top; how the h*ll am I supose to focus on what you are saying?!
You sold me a curly wurly this afternoon and I was like "where do I know this guy from OH YES I watched him on youtube this morning". Oh, small world.
I think it's funny that I am getting my kpop gossip from a guy who lives in England/Norn Irn when I live in Korea. On the upside, I hear and see it everywhere so I know who you're talking about XD
Thanks for giving me an excuse to stare at GD&TOP for over 3 mins :)
Very excited about GD&TOP's Japan release. Maybe some English translations, might get them into some clubs in US and UK. However it seems that may have been delayed because G-Dragon was caught smoking marijuana and AYEX are going to hold the album back. Even though it was proved to be a one time thing and it happened about 6 months ago.
Don't know how it'll affect GD's second solo album which was due to be out November. VIPs!!
snsd doesn't have a chance of breaking into america. i like them, but theyre way too cutesy to make it big here. they need to step up the sexy and badass to be like 2ne1 or rania to be well known here. =/
@MoustachiDA true, their recent songs aren't as cutesy as they used to be lol
idk, i think theyre headed to the style they should be doing in order to break into america, but they aren't quite there yet >.< maybe teddy riley can help with that... haha
I agrree with you about the whole BEG thing. Though I especially love their old stuff. like My style. Yet Sixth Sense is pretty awesome. :3
I really, really hope Jessica and Taecyeon are making the most of their time spent togehter! Whether it's dating or just meeting up.
Also, I honestly think Davichi could make it worldwide, since people are all about vocals nowadays. As well as CN Blue... Hoping the best for Soshi! I would love to see them live again soon!
I think the groups that have the best chance of breaking it in the west are Miss A, 4minute, and 2ne1. As all their music is quite a mix of pop and hip-hop. They all also have very edgy styling which is always a hit over here in the west.
I'm not sure if SNSD would do well here in the US. I have a deep love for them, but when I make my friends listen to them, they just think it's like super Asian cutesy-pop music. I think most other Americans might feel the same way? -__-
And yeah, the music off of the new Brown Eyed Girls album. Ehhh
I wish an Asian singer or group could break out in the U.S. but I really don't see it happening. Utada (who's J, not K) tried it twice and failed and of course like you said BoA and Wondergirls. I really really wish it would happen, though. Maybe SNSD can pull it off. If not, somebody can, right? Oh, and I'm so happy you're back, Adam! Love the hair by the way. :D
Personally, I like both sixth sense and hot shot, but the remaining song of the album sounds rather lackluster. I like the retro feel but it wasn't particularly amazing. And about SNSD, i thnk they can make it to the United States, but only limited due to their current image. Their musics don't resonance as much as the with the dirty beat US waves. The only thing that is kinda close is run devil run (which was composed by ke$ha). On the other hand, i think 2ne1's style can make it big.
(continue). their outrageous style and their not-so-typical asian style really resonances well with the likes of nicki minaj and the black eyed peas. So definitely they will have a larger audience. Anyway. love the hair :D
Autumn! Always a pleasure to see your smiley face again [fuzzy or not]. =] I have no clue on who could break into the states or other country … so I will defer to your expertise on the matter. Keep the vids coming!
I have a friend who is really into K-Pop and a dad who is running for political office in a district largely populated with Koreans. her campaign advice: announce that Super Junior rocks.
I think SNSD has a decent chance, because they are probably the biggest girl group known outside of Korea, at least as 'that HUGE girl group,' but I think in terms of aesthetic, 2NE1 probably has the best chance. Some of them are fluent in English, their songs are extremely catchy, and don't have an exclusively kpop vibe to them.
Guy group wise, probably 2PM. Similar reasons, they all have some experience with English, and their songs could work in a Western market.
Eh, it's really hard for foreign artists to break into America. Especially for Korean artists since the boy band/girl band phase has sort of gotten a bad stereotype tagged onto it in the states. If any Korean groups stood a chance it would be 2NE1, but even then I feel like people would still find refer to their music as "weird Asian rap" or something annoyingly typical like that.
CL of 2NE1, G.Na or one of the members of Big Bang could probably make it in the US. I don't think America is going to go back to group acts, even if I still love them.
I really think that groups like U-Kiss and 2ne1 will succeed in America. They've got the style that Americans really love, and the majority of the members can speak English! That's gonna be the main determinant for success in the states; Americans really don't have a tolerance for people who can't speak the language, unfortunately.
awww come on beg song is sick I thought it wasn't that great but after a few time it just sounds badass -.- and sm is pissing me off with all the freaking teasers, realease the damn video already!!! damn it.
adam, you're missing a poster on the wall! where's 2NE1?! keeping up with the theme, i think the group that has the most chance to break into the US music scene is 2NE1. they just have this vibe that i think would really mesh well what's going on right now. not to mention they've already started to take over the world.
btw, that hand dress that was in the first pic of brown eyed girls you showed was made on project runway korea in an episode where they had to make clothes for CL
I think 2NE1 and Big Bang could make it over in the USA, however, SNSD probably would not become popular because they are tooooooo cute. They will just instantly deem it as some "cutesy Asian girl group" and toss it aside.
@Abbigail745 Lol, calm down. I am actually a big fan of SNSD but I believe in something called mainstream media. When was the last time a sorta cute girl group made it in the States? Spice Girls, MAYBE?
@CptBubbleMoose snsd could change their concepts! they'll not always be cute girls... and they'll only fall down cute girls?? OF COURSE NOT!! AND THEY'LL NOT BE POPULAR?? ARE U BLIND OR DEAF OR WHAT??? :P EESH U!
I always hoped that Rain would manage to break into the British market, but alas he only seemed to make it into the Asian-American market even though he's sooo huge in East Asia. =( I also still have hope that TVXQ might one day break through but that could be a loooong term wish! Maybe I'll just move to China and enjoy it all from there instead! =P

@seygra20 Oh pshaw! Who cares? What do you need in pop music? Good music, good-looking people, good dancing. If America seriously rejects a group just for it's size, that's really petty and stupid.
iSNEEZES 3 months ago 2
@iSNEEZES Currently America is in the solo artist mode at the moment. As you stated before the last group was ages ago in which America moved from Backstreet boys to Lady Ga Ga.
GenJenJenne 2 months ago
@GenJenJenne There's no such thing. The only reason why groups aren't popular is because there aren't any good ones anymore.

VIPs!!

I think the groups that have the best chance of breaking it in the west are Miss A, 4minute, and 2ne1. As all their music is quite a mix of pop and hip-hop. They all also have very edgy styling which is always a hit over here in the west.
Ionam1994 4 months ago
I'm not sure if SNSD would do well here in the US. I have a deep love for them, but when I make my friends listen to them, they just think it's like super Asian cutesy-pop music. I think most other Americans might feel the same way? -__-

On the other hand, i think 2ne1's style can make it big.
tsubaith 4 months ago

(continue). their outrageous style and their not-so-typical asian style really resonances well with the likes of nicki minaj and the black eyed peas. So definitely they will have a larger audience. Anyway. love the hair :D

I have a friend who is really into K-Pop and a dad who is running for political office in a district largely populated with Koreans. her campaign advice: announce that Super Junior rocks.
MusicAndOrHumor 4 months ago
I think SNSD has a decent chance, because they are probably the biggest girl group known outside of Korea, at least as 'that HUGE girl group,' but I think in terms of aesthetic, 2NE1 probably has the best chance. Some of them are fluent in English, their songs are extremely catchy, and don't have an exclusively kpop vibe to them.
Guy group wise, probably 2PM. Similar reasons, they all have some experience with English, and their songs could work in a Western market.

Vixtopher 4 months ago
Eh, it's really hard for foreign artists to break into America. Especially for Korean artists since the boy band/girl band phase has sort of gotten a bad stereotype tagged onto it in the states. If any Korean groups stood a chance it would be 2NE1, but even then I feel like people would still find refer to their music as "weird Asian rap" or something annoyingly typical like that.
CascadaaXx 4 months ago
CL of 2NE1, G.Na or one of the members of Big Bang could probably make it in the US. I don't think America is going to go back to group acts, even if I still love them.
starrkid 4 months ago
I really think that groups like U-Kiss and 2ne1 will succeed in America. They've got the style that Americans really love, and the majority of the members can speak English! That's gonna be the main determinant for success in the states; Americans really don't have a tolerance for people who can't speak the language, unfortunately.
