The Tar may look safe, but they are very dangerous to any creature! It's like quick sand. It will hold you in an unrelenting grip like a fly in a bowl of honey.
@SanJoseSharksNetwork i first went there 40 yrs ago on a sunday afternoon. i remember standing at the edge of the pits looking at the prehistoric elephants they had sitting in the tar listening to a guide tell us about it's history. i can't tell you why we went, but i can tell you the memory has stayed with me all these years.
btw, i was stationed at edwards afb back then & we often spent our weekends in L.A. i've been back home here in the boston area since 1970 & still remember that day.
lovly video! please say to me whats the name of the music!!! ive heard a lot a times but i dont remembere where.. is a soundtrack i think but dont get it
In the movie 'Volcano' yes it was. But, the film is for entertainment, NOT for scientific accuracy. Anyway, that's less likely to happen, because the San Andreas fault only produces earthquakes not volcanoes.
Ive dropped a fishing line in there once i caught a wierd looking fish.

@Dinoman217
Yeah, animals and even people get l uled into a sense of security by the water that accumulates on the top of the tar.

I really enjoyed this - so nicely done. It really brought back the fun of my own visit to the La Brea Tar Pits. Thanks!
