  • I have 2 questions. What would happen if you mixed them all together? Does this look different under a blacklight?

  • for how long will they burn?

  • OMFGOMFGOMFG.. I can't see the last one..

  • cooooooooool party candles :D

  • I'll just stop here, before I end up on the Elephant Has Trouble With Cumshot video. I started on a music video...

  • heet is only methenol alchol we burn it in racing karts here, not toxic when burned only carbon menoxide, just dont drink it or get it on your skin, and eyes causes blindness, safe to burn in open area's, how roach killer works its not posion thay eat it then drink water thay exsploid the queen gets it frist then the collony dies out, good for ant just add something sweet to it, put it close to their hole thay will take some to the queen,

  • hey this was the same toxic

  • great job.

With which program do you put subtitles in the movie? So without adding the subtitles to the vid after the upload.

  • soium??? you mean sodium :-)

  • What are you burning this in? Can I do it at home safely?

  • how I make the color?

  • What would happen if you were to mix 2, 3 or even all 4 of them together? Would there be others/mixed colors or an entirely different reaction?

  • fire is officially 20% cooler.

  • @styropyro hi! um, will this work if I ignite the solution in a punctured metal container using liquefied gas as fuel?

  • Just say "salt" instead of "Sodium Chloride"

  • Ye ay!, Now my Molotov cocktails can look pretty!

  • mix it all together and see wat happens, make a video about it (i mean the methanol, the lithium chloride, etc.)

  • but you can give color to the smoke for the smoke bombs

  • that's way cool looking never seen stuff like this before, but I'd be afraid of the fumes that it emits

  • smelly candles :D

  • hey could u tell me which chemicals make which colors

  • 2 people REALLY hate gays.

  • Dude heet is toxic read the god damn back u die amd faster since ur breathening it in

  • @Jhfgsjdcd im still here

  • @styropyro just because you didn't die doesn't mean you didn't take damage...

  • @styropyro That may be so but im sure breathing in roach killer which was made for something to die isnt the best for ur health.

  • @styropyro What about the heart attack thing? ;) LOL JK

  • @Jhfgsjdcd Most biodiesel contains around 20% methanol as well. I'm sure if it was a big problem, just anyone wouldn't be able to buy it with intentions to burn it as fuel.

  • @Jhfgsjdcd Also, a shot of vodka cures methanol poisoning.

  • @SakoTGrimes Shit a shot of vodka cures anything from a case of bullets to the face to Bear attacks to the balls!

  • @Jhfgsjdcd

    Thumbs down for shitty grammar

  • @Jhfgsjdcd You seem like you would know, Mr. Grammar.

  • Can you say anything about concentration or dissolution? I have tried this and have had no success with table salt and for success than yours with Borax. How much of the salts are you using, relative to methanol? And are you getting them to dissolve? I have not managed to get table salt dissolved in methanol.

  • would it be poisonous to light up a ciggarette with these?? lmao

  • @sasukeuchiha154

wouldn't it be Poisonous to just Smoke a cigarette? LOL

  • FLIPPIN AWESOME :D

  • Why is the scroll button on my mouse not working on only this particular video page!? Cool video.

  • Now add some potassium nitrate for a purple/violet flame! :)

  • When will the giveaway be? >.< Hope i didnt miss it, i need a laser bad! ( PS. If you send it to me ill immidietly make videos of using it... ._. )

  • haha u have a sense of humour

  • to make a bon fire change color how much of each product would you need?

  • What happens when you mix all of them?

  • what did he light the fire on?

  • Why am I watching this?

  • So here's a question. I've been trying to figure out a way to make black wax candles that burn green for halloween. Would it be possible to soak a wick in the methanol/boric acid solution and get it to saturate the cotton in such a way that it would burn green for the life of the candle?

  • @Feathas21 , not likely, I read that methyl borate is a flammable liquid that boils about room temp. it would just evaporate out. but you could use some strontium or copper salts for red and green respectively. not wure how well they would work but you would have to rub the powders into a fresh wick and make the candles your self, hopefully w/o washing off the chems while casting. worth a small test to try

  • erm a question is this legal

and dos annyone knows other variants of this becuse there isnt a wallmart in the netherlands so far i know :P

  • @niels718 Yes this is perfectly legal, this is a very common occurrence in chemistry. its called the "flame test" it allows you to detect chemicals by what color it burns off as. just simply google 'flame test' and there should be plenty of links explaining this processes in more detail

  • traffic lights when they where first invented :)

  • @styropyro can i use lighter fluid instead of methanol?

  • MMPHMMPHMMHP!

    TF2's Pyro approves this video

  • you spelled sodium wrong....

  • so next vid can u make some meth???

  • Will any antifreeze work, or is HEET the best option?

  • did you dissolve the sodium chloride and the boric acid in the methanol?

  • Yellow one ise cocaine

  • Science is so cool :D

  • the last part is to glue them to your car and go on a highway! :D

  • Ye olde medieval traffic light :D

  • i want to see these liquids in a zippo lighter

  • HEET is dutch for HOT

  • the question is do you know which is hotter?

  • I like your sense of humor :D

  • what if you use sulfur wouldn't that burn yellow?

  • you know, if you mix potassium chloride with methanol you get a more distinct blue flame.

  • Who knows any other methanol based anti-freezes that you can find?

Its kind of hard for me to find them in sydney

  • can lighter fluid can be used as a substitute for methanol?

  • @blahfire32 it's butane (i think)

  • FEL FIRE!!!!

  • can it be any anti freeze?

  • preety! now use pepole.

  • How long would an amount like that burn for, it'd be a cool addition to a camping trip. Also, would that specific type of anti-freeze be available in England? Is there a substitute that could be used, obviously something containing methanol but do all anti-freeze solutions contain it?

    Great video mate!

  • I see this and what pops into my head is awesome dying will flames for a Reborn cosplay lol

    anyway this is so awesome!

  • when i go camping with my friends next time i'm makeing the fire green when there gone they would freak out so freaking much

  • lithium rubbing alcohol chemicals..........i quess this is a huge rock band thums up for nirvana and my chemical romance refference

  • The gay rights parade from HELL.

  • Salt is sodium chloride and that is chlorine gas and sodium

  • cool

  • You wanna know what i do? I light mysekf a big canpfire and put a little bit of banana peel on and this and that... The firestays the same right? Well yes it does... But then you throw some anti-matter and BOOM your campfire dissapears!!! In fact your whole damp house dissapears!!! XD

  • @wdlyte50 as long as it's a high concentration of alcohol maybe above a 90% alcohol content? In my experience though the heavier alcohol, the better the job

  • It's funny because I have all of those things just laying on my countertop...

  • google nexus s live walpaper0:15

  • google nexus s live walpaper

  • Something I've been wondering but my Chemistry teachers can't be bothered to answer, if you mix the different metal ions is it possible to get a white flame?

Also, methylated spirit is a mixture of ethanol and methanol (along with various crappy bits), does anyone know if that'll work?

  • chemistry FTW!

  • video number 100, congratulations and keep up the awesome work!

  • Do these give of any dangerous odors? I want to know just to be safe. :|

  • @29dragontamer as always, any burning chemical is bad to enhale, just dont stand over it sniffing the fumes and you should be safe. get a fan going or something just to be safe.

  • @29dragontamer methanol is rather toxic, it's safer to do it outside.

  • @29dragontamer do it in a well ventilated area. youll be fine

  • Will substituting lighter fluid for methanol give the same result?

    Please reply

  • Styropyro u spelled sodium wrong it's s-o-d-i-u-m

  • how did you even know that these chemicals when burnt are different colors?

  • Did you try to find just lithium? I know from chemistry that lithium in some solution burns hot pink.

  • i love your videos

  • can I use ethanol instead of methanol?

  • @alvez161 no

  • *Sodium

But why use Na+ ions to produce the yellow, why not just burn something with a longer chain like naptha?

  • how long do they burn for?

  • i thought salt burned orange

  • @lolimnoteighteen nope, Sodium by itself burns more orange/yellow, but Sodium Chloride is defs yellow.

  • Yo styro! i Realy love ur videos, Could you make an RGB LASER projekt for us? with diffrent nm's?!

  • @elitalomusic You know that's 1) Very expensive and 2) Very, very difficult. If you have the expenses to spare doing it, and the skills necessary to do it you're not going to need a video for it, you'd just look it up someplace.

  • cool video man...

  • COLORS AANNDD FIRE

    ♫MUSIC NOTE

  • So do the order of the chemicals listed correspond to the order of the colored flames?

  • @TheaterGeek2007 Yep, lithium chloride makes red, sodium chloride makes yellow, boric acid makes green (reacts to make methyl borate), and plain methanol burns blue.

  • @styropyro Awesome! Thanks for the quick reply! :)

  • @styropyro so if i mix methanol and table salt, i will get yellow fire?

  • @styropyro anything burns yellow.

  • @MrThatwentwell Well according to the video not lithium chloride, boric acid, or methanol...

  • @styropyro hehe

  • @TheaterGeek2007 Yessir. I suppose you could also make different color flames than just these being that each element has it's own unique color emitted when electrons fall back from excited state to ground state (that is how we see light), so I suppose you could google up some stuff...I've made pink flame, green, blue, etc its pretty easy

  • @TheaterGeek2007 Mainly you want to stick to burning salts "something chloride" to get the best colors

  • Hey styropyro can i use rubbing alcohol as a substitute for methanol?

  • @wdlyte50 don't think so

  • @wdlyte50 Rubbing alcohol is Iso-prpyl alcohol. It's a different hydrocarbon and therefore, will produce a different coloured flame. different beasts my friend.

  • @wdlyte50 i tried it and no

  • @dman5595 so what happens? when styropyro used salt and methanol there was a yellow flame what happened you put rubbing alcohol and salt what color flame was there?

  • @wdlyte50 I've heard it can be but the effect isn't as good, and it burns a little funny (it wont be the pure colour you're looking for, you'll see flickers of your standard orange flame, but if rubbing alcohol (Isopropyl, right?) is more convenient it's worth a try.

  • @wdlyte50 It burns blue but not solely blue but it also produces a medium to large sized flame so watch out.

  • why would you run to hardware stores and shit just to see a colored flame? shits stupid

  • Not the best for toasting marshmallow's, but cool to look at!

  • You are the best person on youtube because

    1. you tell where to get most supplies.

    2. you have awesome laser videos and fun science experiments.

    3. you have a suggestions box that you listen to.

    4. you are just plain freaking awesome!

  • Im making some green fire 2day and imma shoot it with some tracers and see what happens

  • Yey for salt

  • Yay for electron shells!

  • NICE!

  • awesome vid as always styropyro!

  • @TheWorldOfJames thanks!

  • @styropyro if you had a 1w green red and blue laser wouldn't they all be the same?

  • @styropyro You should talk in your vids to explain some things

  • also be wear of the fumes they can be toxic

  • @Sk8ingAddict2 first twat too
