  • best video yet

  • One of my favorite Lion Dance Videos on Youtube :]

  • @Nelson11994 Thanks!

  • The Lion's aren't following the drumming...and the movements are slightly too quick and erratic.

But then again, I perform a different style and this isn't a style I'm familiar with, so what can I say about it?

None the less, it's always great to have a Lion Dance bless a wedding !

  • cheers....i love to watch lions dance. Love it soooo much even tho i am not Chinese. To me its a very good performace.

  • Wonderful wedding! Cultural and something to remember forever!

  • this is amazing...i want one at my wedding!!!!but how do i do that

  • Really nice. lol I like how the lions were in sync.

  • This is so awesome!

Does anyone know how much it would cost to hire "lion dancers"?

  • @Memorized903Forever price range depends on the team...

    usually it's around 250-400/500 sometime 600

  • @Apocalypss

Okay, thanks for letting me know.

  • Nice lion dance performance

  • haha congratulations i'm happy for u guys =P...i'm inspired >.> i think i wanna lion dance in my wedding too =]

  • i love the video

  • this is so cute!

  • lol those lions r booty shaking

  • My sister-in-law surprised not only my brother, but all the guests with the same lion dance troupe during their wedding last March on Treasure Island. They did it because of they wanted to do something cultural based, and she thought the lion dancing was the right way to go. These dancers were awesome!!!! They really made my brother's wedding something to remember!!!

  • thanks for the kind words!

  • @jenniferchew823 bah seen better... one lion was half decent and the other one was more like a wounded cat than a lion. Didn't even follow a routine just randomly added last pray everywhere (which didn't even look nice - didn't even end in a cat stance) with a few head spins and jump into forward stances. Sorry Jen but they probably made a mockery of the tradition you were looking for in a lion dance. Probably invited evil spirits than scare them away.

  • @idryousuke Don’t know what to tell you, but the guests at my brother’s wedding are still talking about these lion dancers, and my brother has been married to his wife for at least 5 years. Maybe in this video to you it looks like crap, but since people who attended my brother’s wedding still talk about the lion dancers performance in the wedding 5 years after the wedding ceremony…it must mean something.

  • @jenniferchew823 I saw Idryousuka's comments and felt like i had to apologize on behalf of other lion dancers for his arrogance. I enjoyed the groups performance and it makes me happy to know that other groups are out there as passionate as I am about performing. Lion Dance is about the art as much as it is about the audience. As a dancer i feel that the community keeps the tradition alive as much as the dancers themselves. I wish your family the best, congrats on the 5 years.

  • @ricep1cker nicely put! I noticed Idryousuka has made quite a reputation for himself for bad mouthing other lion dancers around YouTube.

  • @chernggoh OMG! i just realized, the performance space is in the upstairs banquet hall with the golden dragon spiraling the staircase in SF Chinatown! That was one of the spots that Inspired me to dance because I've seen numerous performances there when i was a child! what a coincidence. I remember seeing a very traditional puzzle on saw horses with a black lion when i was about 8 and then I saw 2 northern lions perform there. FYI i learned lion dancing in SF.

  • @ricep1cker you are correct! That's Empress of China. Who did you learn from in SF?

  • @chernggoh In SF the Chinese cultural center when i was really young, practice was held in one of the rooms at the Holiday Inn across the street from the park and later in High school from Loong Mah.

  • @jenniferchew823 that's great to hear!

  • i filmed this video!!!! chris u didn't give me credit!! lolol

  • awesome video!!!

wish we were as good as you

  • so cute, i would hire u guys for my 18th birthday if you were in southern california

  • you can

  • their info site says they're only available to those in the bay area d;

  • there are socal groups. Depending on where you live, you can find them around. If you're looking for a certain style though, that will depend. There are alot of the traditional styles out there, but if you're looking for this kind of style that the group in this video do, the only group that comes to mind is the San Gabriel Valley Chinese Cultural Association. They were a branch off of Leung's White Crane.

Just a heads up though, lion dance performances are costly in general.

  • oh thank u ^^ i have a boyfriend who is a kung fu instructor, and does this with co-workers! So they will be performing for me FREE OF CHARGE yayy XD lucky me! it's within my living radius too. im blessed! i wasn't surprised with the cost since it really is a good show, they deserve those 100s. im wondering if they'd like a "chang" XD

  • my name is michelle

  • so ???

  • high 5!

  • yes, it is...

  • The song is always the same, although it has slight variations. What is the title? I want to download it

  • Nice I like this performance! Also the lion heads! Keep it up guys!

  • Dang how much does it cost to have this at a wedding? wow

  • hey i follow my lion dance in school islam can follow a lion dance and 9 years old

  • I think they are actually dragons...

  • Sorry to disappoint. These are indeed lions. If you can see, only two people are in each lion whereas a dragon would require at least 10 people to maneuver.

  • It looks odd.....It needs something to symbolise a mane.

  • You are right. It doesn't look like a lion. This is an old Chinese traditional art. There were no lions in China but many Chinese believed that the lion was indeed, a ferocious animal from stories told by people who traveled through China.

Therefore, these costumes were created based on descriptions that the Chinese were given.

  • Ahh.I see

  • im in a lion dance! ima black belt! i do nun-chucks the hard part of the lions head is its heavy=( it hurts don't you see people switch?

  • well its not actually the head thts heavy its the fur, and i think being the tail is way more tiring

  • they are actually lions

  • lion la deh....

  • how much experience in kung fu do you need to learn lion dance?

  • These days, there are many troupes that operate with little to no affiliation to kung fu, including us.

  • yay! thanks!

  • the mos important thing is he 'ma bu'. i can c nw a days a lot of ppl lion dancing w/o 'ma bu'.

  • "xing li" that time no "ma bu" is maybe cause no space.Yea i agree most troopes don't use "si ping ma" , "ding zhi ma" and "gong shi ma".
