  • This is such a basic technique, but it is also an extremely vital and core technique to Jiu Jitsu. This is a great video, thanks Ryron and Rener.

  • if you just started reading my reply to your comment (for dragon88red ONLY) ... its TOO LATE. if u dont post this to 100 videos u will see me by your bed waiting to choke your f*king ass out and break all your limbs off and hang you on a tree HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

  • @raemente just try to choke me ;)

  • What happened with the video?

  • the back is a much better than mount position especially if u trap and arm with ur leg and hold their other arm with your arm that isnt choking then they have no arms to defend only their chin and theres a load of good ways to get ur hand under the chin, best way to win an mma fight is get mount drop punches till they give u their back and choke them out.

  • why take the back and roll onto your back while still latched 2 them? arent u more a threat in the mount? with u on their back they just defend a couple moves instead of many from the mount. ive seen early royce(e.g.-boxer) where he fought 2 stay in the mount. or is it just dependant on the opponent and the situation? thanks anyway though, great technique!!

  • The back is more dominant than the regular mount, albeit both are really dominant but the back is safer for you (less chance to get hit) and the few submissions possible are actually even more of a threat than in mount. If you were talking about having opponent belly-down mount, then you have to remember that for that to be possible, you have to remember that you have to flatten the person out, and the setup to do that leaves a gap where a strong wildly opponent can escape.

  • Also, another thing to notice is that when Royce fought, and took mount, he tired the hell out of the fighters so when they turned, they couldn't offer resistance to him flattening them out. If you see Royce's first fight with Delucia, you can see how wildly Delucia thrashes and Royce had to go with him and roll onto his back while latched onto him. Just because Royce was on his back doesn't mean it was less dominant. There are many options in that position.

  • If you're latched onto someone's back while having your back on the ground you could do stuff like heel stomp their belly area, that distracts them very much from using their hands to defend the choke. You have that arm-lock that Ryron showed which is very reliable and direct. And you have the rear choke which is a guaranteed finish if sunken in. Those three factors working together can finish a lot of people.....

  • priceless

  • At the 2:18 mark, once you have their back, why put one arm over (his L shoulder) and one arm under (his R armpit) ?

Why not just move straight for the RNC ???

    Thanks !

  • position before submission. in a real fight, or even during training, you almost never want to rush a submission. better to control first, even if it is briefly.

  • cause hes probably gunna roll so you want to roll with him and wait for a better time to apply the choke

  • because this is real jiutjitsu for the street NOT sport jiujitsu where your pretty much safe from being punched in the face

  • If you go for the rear naked choke, most people can sense something dangerous about to attack their neck happening so they would have the sense to grab onto your hands. If a really strong opponent latches onto your hands, then he's halfway done to escaping the rear mount he just has to thrash about and he'll get you off his back.

  • another great gracie insider

  • Thanks again guys. I almost feel like I should be paying for this!

  • Send them some money!
