I love the part on 3.15 where he does a duet with Brian May. Only ofcourse Berian can only hit those notes on his Red Special. It's hard to hear the differnece between Freddies voice and the guitar of Brian May
his voice was always worn out on the jap gigs because there the last ones and his voice really needs resting. that note was a bad one by the way hahah thats live for you. hence he quickley toned it down.
the high notes freddie hits in those songs are in falsetto. the falsetto is not included in the vocal range. his range was 3.5, with falsetto it was about 4.5 .
Freddie didn't have 5 octaves !! He had at least 3,5 octaves : his lowest note was a low F (in Somebody to Love) and his highest was a high B (in See the Fool I've Been)
Freddie Had a 4,5 octave voice: lowest note F2(sombody to love) and his highest F6( Barcelona) and the highest note he ever reached was in Milan 1984 C6
Contrarily, in other songs like 'Somebody To Love' or 'Play The Game', he avoided the falsetto or sang directly with his chest or head register. In 'Somebody To Love', at the beginning of the song, he sang the word "can" in falsetto (an Ab4); when singing live, he shouted it with his most resonant register. Such is the case in the first phrases of 'Play The Game'.
Instead of singing them in falsetto as he does in the album, he preferred singing them with his most powerful register, which gave greater body and volume to the song, while depriving it of the typical sweetness of the falsetto.

Actually, what he did often live was to re-arrange some of the melodies so that he could avoid hitting some of the higher notes and he'd end up singing a 3rd below them. It would actually be cool because if you sing some of his re arranged live versions along with the original recordings you can actually produce a harmony. Check it out sometime and you'll see, it's quite clever.
he wasn't just a voice or a showman, he was a genius, was a really great writer and composer, and his music was really cool!!! he were everything that he wants to be, and i think we have to remember every little detail about him, not just his style his brain and feelings too, i'm from chili so i don't know a lot of english i hope you understand!!
Roger Taylor...wot a fucking drummer...glad i got in2 Queen wen i was a kid, he has gave me so much inspiration in my drumming, and my drumming and singing at the same time...PURE MAGIC.
vocals, scat, ballads, metal, rock, blues;composer, lyricist, costume designer, lighting, set design;true genius;back to the wall/stood on his own two feet;thank you Queen,Mary, and Mother, for standing with him all the way. Do it Johnny Depp;become Freddie;so the world will know/remember this genius who passed through our universe, leaving LIFE richer.

The Maestro vocalizing at the speed of light, reminding me of Einstein scribbling his equations on whatever was at hand.

The highest note on this performance is a D5. Because of exhaustion it was not going quite smoothly, but still perfect
Constantijn09 3 years ago
on what SECOND this D5 note is!??! :()

Mr. Mercury vocalizing at the speed of light. It reminds me of Einstein scribbling his equations here and there on whatever media was available.

how many octavs is F? And how many octaves is B?
NightShadow54 4 years ago
A note is not an octave...!!! an octave is a range beetween 2 notes. (ex: F2 to F3)
jibcraip 4 years ago
A note is not an octave...an octave is an interval between two notes. ex : a 5th is the interval between C and G (3 steps 1/2)
So 4 octaves for Freddie : E1 to E5 (European classification)
E2 to E6 (US classification)
Hope it help you...
jibcraip 4 years ago
E1 to E6 you mean

Constantijn09 3 years ago
Nope! There won't be, ever.
Humdinger7 4 years ago
Freddie Mercury is the only one in pop music have a 5 octave voice. And there was, is and will be a better singer than Freddie Mercury
Constantijn09 4 years ago
its more of a solid 4 octave, but its not the range really, its how he can use it so beautifully
hotvision 4 years ago
He was an amazing performer, and had a vocal range of nearly four octaves!
In concerts he sang the songs lower than the original. Espacially in the shows round '75 he sang one octave lower
