  • Do some cotton mouths have white bellies??

  • I made a cottonmouth video but it was getting sorta dark and I was the only one there to film so I had to hold up the snake and keep a steady hand. Hopefully I'll find another soon so I can have someone else film it.

  • what snake is black yellow and red striped down the back horizontel yellow is very thin stripe and the black and red thick I saw it in the water in northeast United states

  • @Ri1seAgainst IF THE YELLOW WAS SKINNIER THAN THE BLACK AND RED, AND RED TOUCHED YELLOW WHILE THE THINNER YELLOW STRIPES OUTLINED THE BLACK STRIPE, THEN THAT WAS A CORAL SNAKE, A MEMBER OF THE COBRA/MAMBA/KRAIT SPECIES (VERY VENOMOUS)

  • @rayrayALA wow CAPS lol and thats kinda scary I was chopping dead tree's deep in woods for firewood I mean really a venamous snake out there oh ya it was swimming too

  • i think that the way you talk to th snake calms it down. But you should never get that close to a fer de lance. They are as aggressive as hell

  • why dont u have like a special snake holding thing, u know like a metal one? haha

  • @fortysicsand2 because a stick works just as well lol

  • I really appreciate how much you care about these animals, not enough people care .

  • What you probably did not know is that they can move really fast and can jump into a boat or whatnot. You should be very far away from that kind of snake and I know this because I live next to a swamp and shot two myself

  • Shit that snake is dangerous, you got some balls handling em -_-

  • yah i agree with tagg i love animals subscribe people

  • dylan your kool dude you teach people who might not know much about the kinds of snakes your very respectful towards them and the turtles im more of a turtle boy but i like snakes but yea you are very respectful keep up the good work man

  • tnx for not harming the snake i love seeing people admire snakes then let them back on there way. watch my video "cottonmouth confusion" ,ohh and by the way cottonmouths dont hibernate ;)

  • snakes don't hibernate, they brumate. mammals hibernate

  • dylan you're a good man. snakes forever. as misunderstood, exploited, and disrespected as native peoples, wolves, bears, whales. . . snakes are so clean, special and important but the consumers of the quickening are the threat and the enemy. they just can't seem to let anything be. i hope your vids make a diff

  • Since you are hunting cottonmouths I take it that you live either in Florida or Texas.

  • Illinois actually.

  • did you ever get tagged by a venomous snake?

  • nope.

  • what would you do if you did? just call 911?

  • DYLAN; PLEASE ALWAYS BE CAREFUL OK?

  • really really happy u didnt kill him.

those guys need us to protect them.

    good job! 5 stars

  • really really happy u didnt kill him.

those guys need us to protect them.

    good job! 5 stars

  • Dylan man, your awsome. Too bad you got into trouble and had to go to court and all that mess.

  • What did he get in trouble for?

  • Handling a life threatning animal (Venonmous Snake)

  • Possession of a life Threatening Animal... and also the fact that one the the Life Threatening Animals was a protected species (Timber Rattlesnake)

  • I've been to the Larue Pine Hills trail a few times, and just about all the snakes I've seen there are cottonmouths. They are VERY common there.

  • How many close calls have you had? Been bitten yet? Erwin talked to them too...hopefully the one that teaches you to be more careful won't mean the loss of a finger....You have handled just enough hots to lose your respect. "Oh, It's only 78 degrees, he's slow, no worries. I know what i'm doing." "I'm a Herpetologist. I have this and that degree. I work with them all the time." okey dokey. Remember this post when it happens......Firearms experts treat every gun like it's loaded.kapish?

  • I have never been bitten, or even had a close call really...

  • okey dokey...good luck with that....hope the one that wakes you up is dry.

  • dont listen to him.. as long as u know what ur doin and dont get complacent u should be fine.

  • shoot that sucker!

  • You got cool vids...GJ!

  • Your videos are awesome. Have you ever found an eastern newt? I've been looking for those for a while here in New York. I found two in Allegheny.

  • holy crap thts alot of cottonmouths in one day

  • Just wondering if you ever handled a southern pacfic rattle snake like that dr bush on venom ER, He showed a few peeps who got bit by them, They are one nasty lil snake and seem to bite very fast if picked up, I think they are called helirire????

  • love the videos man. HERPS RULE!

  • Dylan, what percentage of baby cottonmouths are killed by predators before reaching adulthood? Also, have you ever been bitten by a cottonmouth or copperhead. If so, what type of treatment did you receive?

  • never been bitten by anything venomous.

Im not sure of an exact %. As adults the Cottonmouths have no natural predators (aside from humans)

  • Tell that to my dog. Large birds of prey will predate on them as well. As will gators.

  • where is this? tenn?? florida? kentucky??

  • Southern Illinois.

  • why do people hate snakes.snakes are awesome.and lizards frogs etc.they are benneficial.if they do kill people it is cause they are on the snakes turf.

  • wx3(dot)aussieherps(dot)tk

  • aussieherps(dot)tk My new website

  • hey man i have been seeing this black w/ brown spiral water snake around our lake house here in central illinois hanging around the rocks eating rock bass. they are only about a foot and half long but very thick in diameter. some even will stick their heads out of the water and flatten it out. Is this a water moccasin? thx man and enjoy your footage.

  • If it is in central IL... than it is not an Moccasin.

They live in the very very southern part of IL. Most likely a Northern Watersnake they are so common it's crazy. They are not venomous, but have a pretty bad temper if you catch it.

  • I don't want to make fun of anyones opinion, but this is obviously a cottonmouth, or at least a variation of one. it doesn't matter where you find the snake.

  • hahaha, unless that snake isn't found there! btw, i found a garter snake in my backyard in OH, but i'm pretty sure it had to be a cobra!(sarcasm)

...i've seen many a dead watersnake under this under this logic.

  • you can only identify a snake by being able to identify the snake. say an escaped egyptian cobra makes its way into your backyard, and shows a full hood. would you call it a rat snake because thats the only native species that is black?

  • hey dylan

    you live in belleville

    thats crazy

i live in granite city bout 15 min away

but yea i saw alot of cottonmouths in illious

  • Uhh about this one... What the hell are you thinking??? but ty for the info

  • I was thinking " Lets catch some snakes"

    what are you thinking??

  • ok, makes since to me

  • hey mangood job id love to go check out snakes with u and ure friends, were did u learn all this stuff?

  • dude im goin to southern illinois this summer and i love cottonmouths (Agkistrodon piscivorous) and copperheads (Agkistrodon contortrix) and all of the other snakes that you have found but you need to find some timber rattlesnakes (Crotalus horridus) and put that video online

  • im way ahead of ya.

wait till tomorrow or so... new video on the way...

  • You are very brave! Very impressive. How many times have you been bit? Sure you have been asked prior!!Very good video. Stay safe safe and secure!

  • never bitten by anything dangerous.

  • Have you ever been bitten by a snake? post a video

  • haha been bitten by lots. Never anything dangerous though.

only video I have of me getting bitten is the Blue Racer video. That is a notoriously defensive snake and he didnt like me trying to handle him. ha

  • cool its not true what ppl say copperheads are mellow too so are timber rattel snakes my fave three are kingsnakes rat snakes and racers

  • gotta love the king snakes. very beautiful, and very docile.

we have several different varieties around here... I'll try to get some videos with them this year!

  • cool I will too

  • Nice demonstration on the fact that snakes are not human-hunting monsters. Thanks for the cool vids Dylan, keep em coming.

  • thanks. That is the main point I want to convey with these videos. Breaks my heart to see indiscriminate killing of such beautiful creatures.

  • Dylan, rather than yelling at you, I'll try something different. You obviously have the same level of enthusiasm I do for snakes. Thats great. However, I would ask you kindly, from one enthusiast to another, to not handle the hots so often. One day, you'll get an unplanned surprise, and regret it, especially if its a cottonmouth. Thats a nasty bite as Im sure you know. Keep the videos coming, they're great, but just be more careful.

  • what you cant see in the videos is that it is pretty chilly outside. They are pretty sluggish and not in much of a mood to bite.

If it were a warm summers day and I found a cottonmouth it would be a different story. Not that it is impossible for a cold snake to bite me.

I know what I am getting myself into with these animals and realize the risks. Any mistakes could lead to problems.

Thanks for the concern and I will have more videos in the spring for sure. =)

  • Those are some young snakes.

  • yea that place is a breeding ground for them... I think we saw more juveniles than anything else all year.

  • Beautiful snakes. It's great that you love them so much. So many people just kill them when they find them :-( Where in the world are you?

  • thanks, I love these snakes so much.

I live in Southern Illinois so we get a good variety of snakes around here.
