Such a cutie, I had an agouti dumbo named Hannah. She was such a sweet little girl. I had her when I started dating my boyfriend and she became Daddy's rat. She eventually passed away due to cancer. She was about 2 1/2, I had always wanted a dumbo.

my wife is a md/phd yrs ago i got her some ratties because she felt bad doing experiments on mice, she'd come home crying. now that she's a double dr. she refuses to do animal work, if fact she's on the committee to ensure animals are treated well in the research community. we still own ratties to this day. German shepherd, cat, ratties...they are our family. to own ratties and see them age, to spend time with them, it to understand Zen. Rats are Zen creatures, nothing but love.

Every time I hear that song, I can't help but to expect the windows to rattle, the walls shake and people begin running around screaming. I'm not sure it's the -exact- song that was on when Cloverfield struck, but it was definitely prominent at Rob's going away party. My 1st exposure to that song - I'll never be able to see it as "sweet" after that intro. ;-) (From the movie "Cloverfield" if you don't already catch the reference). :-) Cute mouse, though. :-)

I have only had 2 dumbos out of all the rats and mice I had and the 2 were already adults so I didn't get to spend much time with them ( my big boy Phantom had passed away one night when I spent the night at a friends house and when I got home I found him...it was so sudden) but rats are amazing pets I got all my rats from feeder pet stores and they were so loving even the brown ones were sweet hearts its just sad they couldn't all get along like yours does because none were really the same age

@ToxicFearful Actually his color is called blue (like the rat in Ratatouille) which is a deep gray bluish color. Probably the lighting is just off. A wild rat color is called agouti and is more like the color of a wild bunny.

You are very lucky to have a 2+ yr old! I had 10 at one time- my mama rat got pregnant (thought they were two boys.. apaprently not ><) and they lived maybe a little over a year. two years is amazing. My albino girl now, Houdini, is almost two. I'm very happy about that.

How is Muzzy? He seems very happy and is bruxing :) Rats are the most amazing animals<3

My 5 year old rat just died 6/30/10 she had to be put to sleep because she was having seizures. I hope Muzzy lives as long as Mazie did. ^.^ it's hard to lose an older pet. but a lot easier than loosing a younger one to illness. Just remember that Muzzy has had a lonng life.

Rats are awsome!!!! But people make the mistake of getting only two. Three will always ensure that there is more then one. Keeping them in groups is far better! If a rat loses its only companion they suffer far worse than humans do, because their ability to reason is not as strong as ours. Trust me! If you love rats and want them as pets. Always keep three or more....and get them a multi-level ferret cage or somthin!!

In fact, most rodents like mice and rats (you know, the kind with long tails) tend to be quite docile if they're handled from a young age and well looked after.

@Sporeofthecentury Just come home with two haha. that's what I did. My rats Sasha and Tara are doing just fine and they're very affectionate. Well not tara she bit me day one but hasn't since so i guess that's improvement. I've only had mine for about a month though and they're still maturing.

Update on Muzzy rat - Muzzy was born May 1, 2007 so he is 2 years four months old. Unfortunately rats have a short live span of 2, maybe 3 years. Muzzy matured into a huge boy but now is losing his muscle mass and weight, so I think he is coming to the end of his time. :-(
