I have a really good reason to believe that should the Dems retake the House in 2012 (Obama's a shoo-in at this point and the Senate is safe) that they are going to take the hard-tack, our-way-or-the-highway approach. Obama tried desperately to reach across the aisle, and all the Republicans did was slap him away... and with the Repubs in power now in the House, they haven't even looked across the aisle, let alone try to reach the Dems. I personally know a girl who is being denied Medicare because she has a life insurance policy. She has inoperable brain tumors. Thats government healthcare. They give it to illegals and to welfare recipients though.

Yes, that's true, but they can be denied insurance. An uninsured person seeking healthcare will pay hundreds for a standard doctor visit, and 50-100k a week for hospital stays.

People are dying because they can't AFFORD healthcare, not because it isn't available.

In the first place, WTF does LIFE insurance have to do with receiving medical care? Nothing!

Today I was prescribed an antibiotic for a chronic sinus infection. Levaquin 750mg, look it up. If you have no insurance, 30 tablets will cost you $850 (anywhere you call). That's over $28 per pill! There are no generics for it. Even with my "best of class" corporate insurance, I still had to pay $450 out of pocket! Where there is single payer healthcare, it cost $0!

500 mg Tavanic (same active substance as in Levaquin - Levofloxacin) costs 6 $ per pill in Sweden - and this probably comes from the negotiating power of a government.

It is not subsidized - we have other mechanisms that takes care of the people that have hard times paying for their medications.
