  • In actuality she is apply the method of carnatic which call Kriaha Bedam(misspelled), because when done we are able to fine raga's such as hindolam and kalyani where there prayogams are used in singing in the mel sthayi's of thodi if one wish's , I personally think Dharani did a great job singing thodi' she changes the placement of the S in kalyani in relation to Thodi to show how Kalynai is formed...hopefully you will take some account of what i have just said - she is not mixing anything ....

  • Beautiful naadham and control. Superstar in the making for sure :)

  • actually my mistake it actually is not thodi at those points but it is called raga batam where u find a common note dominance between the two ragams other than Pa and Sa and you may go into different ragas for the sake of building the sangathees off this particular note...popular for thodi and shubapantuvarali...if you listen to tn seshu you will see much of this in swaram, alapana, and neraval....

  • raga batam..that's a very interesting concept.. so far i had only heard of sawara batam and that too only in a negative context! if u have any clips of tn seshu doing this wld be great if u cld pass to me..What do u mean by building sangethis off the note? so tt means u use the note as a base and build sangathis in a different raga?

  • if you shift swaras in ragam....use R as the S in thodi and it becomes kalyani...it's like if you were singing at a different a shruti it would be a different ragam, which is how shruti/swara/raga/graha bedham are coined....it's just how the scale is developed...there are a lot of recordings online...search graha/shruti bedham on google

  • i have done some research since that post..thanks for your reply...i think i kind of get the concept now..

  • heyy everybody this is simply raga batam where she goes into a dominance of kalyani thru thodi...it is actually still thodi but it sounds but more kalyani because concentrates on those aspects of thodi...so u could say thodi to kalyani to thodi...

  • @imsupersmart520 Could you rightly convey what you intended to convey? Thodi-Kalyani, Kalyani-Thodi ? Thoklyani, KlathODi, .. :))

  • Delightful and impressive. This is pure thodi. However, I agree that 4.58 a deviation somewhat kedhaaram has creeped in. God Bless Ms.Dharini K. I am sure she will be showered with All His Best during all the days to come.

  • Yes, It sounds like Kalyani and not Thodi...May be I'm wrong..But good effort by ths singer..

  • Why is it at 4:58 it doesnt sound like Thodi anymore? Is it because it's being sung quickly?

  • @sasa110 Yes, appears she mixed-up..
